I just want to see if anyone else can confirm what I found. Ecto-1 is 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Futura. Whereas, Ecto-1a is 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel (or possibly a Classic, but that is a pure hearse build). Anyone have evidence that proves me wrong?
Someone around here might. You can also check over at www.theecto1.com Alot of knowledge over there. I do know that pretty much every hurse/ambulance was made to order and shipped from the auto manufacturer with only the front end completed and all standard parts in a box strapped to the frame. The model for the ecto 1 had the partition sliding window and the 1a didn’t. Thousands of variations which certainly makes restorations a pain.
I’ll have to look into those models specifically..

The Futura (Ecto-1) is the only M-M model to have the wrap around windows in the back corners. However, Ecto-1A has the bar is the rear corners w/o the hearse landau (which only happen on the Classic and Sentinel). I have never personally been near the movie cars, so it is impossible to tell how high the back of the cab is. That would make a difference in which model it is.
Both cars are Futura and 1a is a combo, I seen it in person and I saw the tracks for the stretcher as well saw the holes for the beer pins.
The Futura is a combo. The Sentinel is not.
I need that screen shot from the museum when talking about Vigo to get a look at the back of 1a. Anyone know where to find that?

From all my years in research both cars are Futura combos
There are a number of Ecto-1/1A pictures in this site’s reference section, you shouldn’t need to use a screenshot.
That said, if there’s cabin elements that shouldn’t be in that model, they could have easily been added in when the car was turned into a Ectomobile.
