UltimateGBfan's Game Pack UPDATE 5/19/09!!!!

So after much thought, and after following Ddevil’s game thrower build,I’ve decided to follow in the steps of both he and Angelus.

I have roughly 5 weeks to build it,and so far it’s coming along great.I am building it from some rigid urethane foamboard,it’s some tough stuff and I’m using Venkman71’s plans.

So this is where I’m at now,the two boxes need to be bondoed and the cleaned up from that, then the fins added to the Gearbox,oh and vacuum hose attachment added.

So yes I’ve done a fair bit of work, but it’s nowhere near done yet.

Great start man, but five weeks… if you can manage it in time, then WOW. I guess you’ll need to set that Boba helmet aside for now? Great work on that too, Alan’s templates are the best!

Yea the Fett helmet has hit the backburner for now,I’m confident that I can get the pack done in 5 weeks,I was up till about 2am working on it last night, luckily I’m off from work most of this week,so I have plenty of time to work on this thing.

Thanks for the compliment on both the pack and the Fett helmet, and yea Alan’s templates are awesome.

sweet good luck with it! Doth my eyes also spy a based helm and optimus prime as well as the fett?

Gb Jer

You do indeed see a Prime helmet,it’s just a simple Hasbro Optimus Prime voicechanger helmet, the other helmets are a Hasbro Darth Vader voicechanger helmet with slight mods and the last one on the other side of the Fett helmet is a Rubies Boba Fett helmet,it’s a piece of shit too.

So another update,I got the basic Gun Mount built,it was a pain, all that’s left on it is to bondo, sand, and add the fins.

One more update,I managed to get the Powercell built and attached to the EDA,all that’s left is to build an Ion Arm and then bondo the entire upper module, after bondoing and sanding I will have to add the fin details. The Upper Module is almost complete!

Woo hoo, just chugging right on along with the pack!

So I finished the Ion Arm,just needs to be bonded along with the rest of the Upper Module and then add the fin details.

I’m all out of the rigid foamcore,so I have to get some more.

Ok in that last pic,the Injector Tubes and HGA are to my movie pack hence why the HGA doesn’t have the LED HUD.

This is coming along quite well. Can’t wait to see the final results!

I’m guessing by your first post that this is going to be a game pack, yes?

Firstly, I must say that I am extremely jealous of a far more superior foamcore build than my own. I should do an update to mine though. I used Norm’s plans. Not that it didn’t turn out good, but I think we all have that itch to “make it better”, even if it looks great. I want to update mine to game status as well, though I want to find a way to make all the new parts interchangeable/detatchable, kind of like a proton pack playset

Anyway, just wondering, are you going to stay with the crank knob there? Cause I believe the game pack has a little different configuration. It looks like it’s been replaced with a warning light and the new vent.

A crank knob is there, but it is to the left, and a grilled red light is also added to the gen.

That sure is coming you nicely! You’ll be finished by no time at that speed.. Great work man!

Looks great ! keep it comin !

Jack, the knob is indeed there, but it is slightly different from the traditional Crank Knob, but there are some details that I am keeping the same as the movie packs. Also, don’t use Norm’s plans, get Venkman71’s plans, that’s what I used for this build and they are awesome.

Thanks to everyone else for their comments and compliments,I appreciate it guys.

I got about that much work done in one night once because a friend had let me borrow an aderhal…lol. Unfortunanly I havn’t touched the pack since. Really great work there, I love seeing people use some cheaper, light weight materials as opposed to the common materials. I’m a cardboard builder myself, seriously considering jumping on the game pack band wagon, but more just finding a way to temporariily add some of the details to an existing pack so’s I can switch back and fourth. Looking foward to seeing some more progress.

This pack is being built to stay the game pack,I have on of Java’s shells and was thinking about turning that into the game pack but decided against it,it’s way too nice of a pack to turn into the game pack.

I’ve got to get some more foamboard,so that’s all the progress I have right now.

Ok so I got the main gun body and Slime Tether box done, but the batteries in my camera died before I could get pics of the Slime Tether box,so here are pics of my gun box.

These next few pics are of the new box with my DDevil gun(Middle) and my Xennepp gun(right),and the last pic is a pic of some of the resin parts that will go onto the gun when I’m done.

This is looking really good, kinda wish I went with foam board instead of wood, it looks like such an easier material to work with. After seeing how this pack is coming along I’m actually thinking of abandoning my wood pack (though it’s kinda almost finished) and starting again with foam board although I’ll keep the spacer and mobo as is. Just out of curiosity though, what will you be using to seal and smooth the edges, bondo? What’s the equivalent of bondo in the UK?

Can’t wait to see more on this before I actually ditch the wood project…

Another option for sealign the edges is to cut 5 mill of the foam away and leave the cardboard. Then when you place the pieces together the cardboard covers the foam edges.

Is there a thread that lists the differences so far for the new game packs?

Looking real good man! I build my pack with the same thing. I just used wood filler on the edges. Your lines are all nice and straight :stuck_out_tongue: You will be amazed how much better it will look after a good coat of paint!
