Unique and Weird GB prop idea (scarves, headbands and more!)

I’m Joy

My boyfriend has been telling me I should join to show off some of the weird ideas I’ve had since doing Ghostbuster costume stuff in August 2013… so here they are!

I’m Joy, this is my first try at being a Ghostbuster…

I knew it wasn’t very good but I wanted to make it my own so I thought I’d girl it up a bit and make a hair accessory…

here is the initial sculpt, and below is after it’s painted and on my hair!

I also used PixelPower’s cross stitch pattern, modified of course, to make a custom pic of the Ghostbusters of New Hampshire and their amazing Hello Kitty pack…

Then I decided to take a break…have a glass of wine…

but I got bored. Luckily I met the British Columbia Ghostbusters who influenced me to bring out a bit of a “■■■■■■” side to my crafts…

Ok, I know this is long, but here is what I REALLY wanted to show you, with the cold weather coming I wanted a way to show off the nerd-stuff over our winter wear and I came up with this knitting pattern, it’s subtle (which I like because it makes it more acceptable to wear to work)

I’m working on a few more ideas and color combos… hopefully I can show you guys soon. Also I’m left handed so I have a left and right handed pattern if anyone wants the info for the scarf decoration.

This is my usual outfit, if you see me at a show say hi!! Please PM if you want any patterns or have ideas… I got my headband signed by Ernie Hudson so I’m retiring it and trying to think of something else…

Great stuff! I’ve been trying to convince my gf that there are many other options than just a regular suit and a pack so I’m totally sending her this.

that is a fantastic scarf, joy. I was also admiring your cross stitch at RICC, awesome work!

@ Morydees : Glad to hear it!! When I got into this a girl from the community was super nice and supportive and it made it a lot easier for me to flex my creativity and try to put my own spin on it- if you or your girl need any help let me know! Good luck!

@ Wharin : Thanks so much!! I probably looked very grumpy at RICC because I was trying to get 9 of them ready for my friends for the holidays… now I’m on to “scarfing” and have found a whole new way for my fingers to hurt  Hope to see you at another show!

I know how it is, I do leather work. Being Crafty: Inventing new ways to get early onset arthritis and carpal tunnel since the beginning of time! If you can still feel your fingertips, you’re doing something wrong.

Is that a bedazzled Douchebusters bra? That may be one of the greatest undergarments I’ve ever seen in my life.

i’ll take 20

Lmao!! I want to make a black jumpsuit PINK style that says “hot trap” across the butt

Omg I better not show my friend that. She will want it.

These are fantastic ideas and excellent work! You should be very proud!!!

Very cool job Joy, I hope your work will turn my girlfriend into ghostbusters-mania!

That’s some really cool stuff. I wanted to ask if I was seeing pictures taken at Calgary Comic expo there. I thought I recognized that Indiana Jones.

Nope, he’s from Rhode Island and the pic of him is from Boston.

Are we letting girls on the site again? Gross. Glad my cootie shots are all up to date.

Your stuff is pretty cool I guess but that boyfriend of yours is a real weirdo.

Cool, another thread to share with the wifey, love the headband, that’s pretty cool!

Oh no, I just know ole Venkman’s gonna have to add this to his G.B. BOO-tique!

LOL, seriously though it all looks pretty cool. Definately was not easy to put all of that together. Great job. :crunch:

Who’s the resident resin guru? He should mass produce goggle and trap headbands, I bet it will sell pretty well…

Thanks for sharing,

I’m just getting my wife into costuming. She’s finally agreed to wear a costume this year (my mother in law too if my son doesn’t start talking in the next two weeks)

This is great inspiration

Love the goggle headband.

I’m putting together a GB hair fascinator using a small no ghost patch and Ghostbusters ribbon I found on eBay, just because you’re bustin’ doesn’t mean you can’t be faaaabulous
