ok, I saw the game inspired HGA in the sale thread and this got me thinking about different parts of the pack that could be jazzed up a bit. Namely, the N filter.
I’ve seen many n filters with the vents or whatever they are back lit to a cool effect, however, I have yet to see that red stripe lit up My idea is to somehow make one out of clear acrylic or plexiglass, something sturdy, transparent, and workable, paint it black, and have a red LED in the way end to light up the red stripe, section that off, then have the vents light up.
How about having just the normal resin nfilter but chop it where the stripe would be and insert a red perspex ring of the same diameter between the two peices?
It would save you having to make the whole thing out of perspex.
Or you could section the red stripe into quarters, like elongated ovals with 1/4-1/2" spacing in between. Then if you have a lighted cyclotron, you could split off LEDs to the n-filter so you’ll have a syncronized pattern between the two. It wouldn’t be a complete ring anymore, but might look good.
I actually really like this idea. But may I also make a minor suggestion? I think it would be cool having the actual filter (the white holes) on the pack light up in sequence around the N filter, along with the red strip glowing, that would look emmense
I’m not sure of the purpose. If I could find a purpose then I may consider it. I’d like to put a little computer fan inside of my n-filter so when you ran your hand by it you could feel air flowing out.
you give me ideas. and i have a headache. which these ideas, are turning gears in my head right now that should be taking a rest.
now,
imagine, rather than lighting up that red line around the nfilter, but since some people drill out the holes and put in a mesh to cover them, put like a super fast rotating strobe light or flash bulb in it, so it looks like a cycling rotor or something is in there. id actually like to see that effect coming out the sides of a synchgen spacer or cyclotron, but vents that dont exist on it would have to be cut out, and pant leggers would probably thumb their noses to it’s awesomeness.
maybe my next pack. i should start writing a list of things im going to add into my next pack.
I removed our N filters, and replaced the flat white painted pringles can with some of that sparkly reflective stuff from those halloween wands we used for our gun wands.
Over taht is a bit of gutter guard mesh, aand then inside the n filter is a halloween pumpkin light which has a 6 red led chaser. The end of the n filter is held onto that with some sticky tack, so we just remove that, and have easy access to the battery compartment, and the switch. It can either slow color change, or fdo the chasing red led thing (which I prefer.) If turned upp, the n filters look normal, so it was the best of both worlds. Plus those pumpkin lights were only 75 cents each!
I discovered while building my pack that Betty Crocker frosting containers are almost the perfect dimensions for making the N-Filter. Just eat, or throw out, the frosting, clean it thoroughly, and cut the open end to fit onto the pack. Easy, clean, and not obvious at first glance what it is/was.
