What was the name of the university the guys were kicked out of?

Columbia University.

Back when it was a subsidiary of Coca Cola University.

It was filmed on campus at Columbia University, but they had to agree not to use Columbia’s name in the movie. Also the department they were in doesn’t really exist, so I think it’s technically an unnamed fictional university.

For what it’s worth, both versions of the GB1 novelization (the one by Richard Mueller, who went on to be a prolific RGB writer; and the one by Larry Milne) mention Columbia University by name.
