Used Nomex vs. New Nomex

So as I’m researching buying my first suit, I was curious if people had opinions on buying a used Nomex suit or a new one?

Are there any pros/cons between the two? Does anyone know if the fit is better with a used Nomex suit over a new one because of it being “broken in,” or is that not an issue?

Thanks in advance for the input!

you ever buy any clothes at a good will? same difference. give it a wash, and you’re fine.

Used might be slightly smaller due to more washings, but a new one will shrink up slightly over time too.

I honestly prefer the used ones; they don’t look as crisp and shiny as the new ones; the screen-used suits were baggy, rumpled, wrinkled, and stained.

Thanks for the inputs guys! I’m still sort of undecided, but I agree on the “weathered” appearance of the used ones being more screen accurate in a sense.

You know what I think.

no we dont. thanks for adding absolutely nothing of value. congratulations for wasting time. you rock man. you rock.

say hi to mom/grandma for me.

I stated my opinion in another thread. Besides, I wasn’t talking to you :stuck_out_tongue: lol.

Basically, I said go look at an army surplus store.

I bought a new Nomex earlier this year, and it fits nicely, even a little lose. I just bought a used Nomex, same size, and it’s a little tight. Not too terrible, but it’s definately more snug than the one I bought new. Also, my new one was a Carter flightsuit, this one is another company, so maybe that plays a role? Granted they should all be one set size…

Thanks for the insight, Krenzy. I have pretty much decided I’m going to get a used Nomex suit as many of them I’m finding are in nice condition not to mention the price is also good.

I think I may end up buying two different sizes to make sure I end up with one that is the best fit. I don’t think I’ll have any trouble selling the extra one…
