can i just chip in here and say i don’t think the side vector plates are the pedal plate cut down. if you notice on the pedal plate there is a thick lower line just after the highrise double ribs which isnt present on the trap plate. also if you try and make a pedal plate from trap side plates it works out too big (trust me i tried).

however, I tried putting my resistor in this space on the pedal rail plate that Phantom50 (Brock) sold to me thats on my trap pedal and the cal-r resistor does not fit. I’m in the middle of this right now putting my trap together
wow, thanks for that info Chris. ok so it seems some traps used cut down pedal plates and others used larger plates. hmmmm.

I’m fairly certain you will find that the Gold Resistor had its mounting tabs filed flat to fit inside the smaller vector rails. I know I have seen it mentioned elsewhere also.

looking at the reference photos it seems the GB1 trap vector plate is a cut down pedal plate. the CAL-R’s tabs are butted right against the higher double rails. where as the GB2 trap’s plates seem to be the larger ones as there are gaps between the CAL-R’s tabs and rails. also the GB2’s plates dont have the thicker lower rail.
could the resistors be different sizes too giving the illusion of different sized plates?

That topic has come up before and I have talked to Brock (Phantom50) about it as well. The assumption is that the edges were filed to fit into the ridges. That is also what I have done on all of my builds as well.
To clear this up, it seems to be less of a GB1 vs GB2 issue. The hero traps used the cut down Vector (same stuff as the pedal) with the tabs on the resistor trimmed down to fit. You can see the wider rib that is present on the Vector that is used for the pedal (see photo below of the hero trap, and in HD version of GB1, but even in the DVD version you can see that the resister wouldn’t fit without trimming). The wider Vector that requires no trimming (other than length) seems to have been used for the stunt traps in both films, this Vector does not have the extra wide rib and allows the resistor to fit without any trimming to the tabs.

as promised, this is a SR3 I cut down today with a cut down CAL-R resistor just so we can all see how it works
