Vent Light.....

Been doing some searching on the boards, but nothing that’s helped yet. I just wanted to know a cheap alternative for a vent light on my proton gun instead of buying an expensive kit. What have some of you done? Thanks!

Cannibalize one of those those cheap book lights and run the wires to one of the gun switches.

OR…

Check out what Toy’s-R-Us has by way of electronic space guns. They’re pretty cheap and you might find one that has some nifty electronics.

What I did before I got Exoray’s kit was go to Radio Shack and buy an bulb meant for a flashlight. Attatch wire to each of the contacts (one went to a switch that was on the thumb box to turn it on) and it only cost about $6.

I used a dollar store flashlight and took it apart. I kept the reflector and glued it under the grill. Gives a nice lighting effect like Ray’s gun in the hotel scenes. As mentioned, I’m working on using a cheap toy space gun to light up the led caps and bar graph.

You can make it out in this lovely blurry phone pic.

I’d suggest Googleing it and find if you could get yourself a small battery powered LED light.

I have several that cost about £5, they have 8-10 seperate LEDs on each set running from a small battery pack that houses 2 AA Batteries on narrow Christmas light cable about 12 inches long.

If you find one anything like mine, the whole thing will fit inside your Gun Box as it’s barely bigger than 2 AA batteries side by side.

There’s enough lights there to hook up your whole gun body, they’d be static lights that you can slip and hot glue in beneath your Lens caps. (Available from the GB store on this site.)

Being static is the only draw back, but the stunt Throwers were all static lit were they not?

At least everything on your Thrower will light up nice and bright.

You could probably even fit 2 in there and light the gun nozzle too.

I did it to mine too…

And that’s exactly what they used on the GB1 screen used guns. You can see it in the PH photos.

Thanks for all the help. Any specific instructions on wiring a book light to the switch. I have a book light that requires you to twist the end near the bulb to turn it on. Don’t know if it will work.

Mmm, Roboprop’s gun… drool

Uh, huh, sorry, anyway…

Find a seller on eBay with some wide-angle superbright LEDs. You can sometimes get 25-50 of them for like $15. I like to keep a bunch on hand for any kind of prop lighting I may need. Any light you can think of is just an LED, a switch, 3 volts, and some wire away.
