Video of my first proton pack in use

Thanks to all who helped me in some way. Lights are a proptronix light kit & sound adapter, & a Replicaprops chip.

Awesome, man. My only small, tiny, itty bitty suggestion: speed up the cyclotron light sequence. Seems a tad slow in my opinion.

I agree. Other than that, perfecto mundo.

I would, but that was a proptronix thing. There’s prolly a way to speed it up, but I am NOT undoing the bolts, short of heavy maintenance. It was a bitch getting them in after I put the frame on the motherboard (forgot to take into account the angle would make the brackets shift). I had to use a clamp to get it situated. When I have to do some maintenance, I’ll fix it. Not saying it’s perfect, but for a 1st attempt, I’m rather pleased.

Nothing to speeding it up,just turn the little blue knob on the bottom of the pack board.

Looks great!

yeah both lights are way too slow. just take the shell off the board and turn the little dealy with a small screwdriver.

i dont understand all that stuff you said about the angle of something making the bracket shift. if you installed the brackets and shell the proper way, taking it off should be a breeze.

Because people were complaining earlier about the speed of my lights, I finally broke down & fought with the shell to increase the light’s speed. Here’s the new video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma5L76L1slg

That wasn’t complaining, that was constructive criticism.

Great job! :crunch:

Constructive, complaining, same diff. Either way, the lights are sped up. And I know the N-filter is off, that ■■■■■■■’s gorilla glued in. It set before I noticed the mistake. And I’m NOT gonna force it out, last thing I need is the shell breaking. I’ll get it out somehow, down the road. And then I can fix that.

i was complaining

If YOU don’t like it, too bad. I’M the one who’s wearing it, who sees it almost 24/7, I’M the only one who has to be happy with it. And I am.

I disagree. When it’s on your back, you can’t see it at all but your too-slowly blinking lights are like forks being driven into the eyes of the rest of us.

Is…is this really a problem? I mean seriously? This goes back to that same old argument that all props should look a like and be 100% accurate which is just flat out boring if you ask me. I personally like to see difference in peoples equipment. Ad some flare (no office space jokes) to it. Make it your own if you want. That’s the fun thing about this kind of prop. Think about it realistically for a moment. If ghostbusters were say a government contracted company…and real, then you would probably get the same thing from its employees as you would an air force officer. By that I mean painting things on the outside of your jet in this case your pack. Personally I think all packs should be close to accurate id say 90% accurate and leave the last 10% to do what you want to do with it.

I mean its just; its your prop do what you want to with it as long as its 90% accurate and looks close enough to the guy standing next to you in full gear then your ok. The general public doesn’t pay close enough attention to all the pretty details like we do in this case how fast the pack lights are going. Don’t nit pick if its not yours live and let die.

Suggestions are one thing but for anyone to actually step in and start correcting your work, what you spent your time and your money on just because it isn’t 100% dead on with the packs from the movie then I’d suggest a better way to spend your time maybe…in the real world doing something creative.??? I dunno just a suggestion. I am not pointing anyone out or anything like that this is more intended to speak to the people who care WAY to much about OTHER PEOPLES PROPS. Meaning if its not yours and you don’t like the way it looks, make your suggestions then let it be. But these are all my own opinions.

Nobody said that we didn’t liked the way it looked. Paul said that the pack was awesome but that the lights didn’t go fast enough. I said that I agreed and congratulated him. Garvin said more of the same. Then Kind came in and confirmed that it shouldn’t be complicated removing the shell from the board. Then Joker got defensive about the complaining thing.

That’s what constructive criticism is for, by the way. To improve your work in ways that maybe you hadn’t thought about. If not, why show your work at all? I don’t get this attitude. When you show your work, you have to expect a certain criticism. But you have to understand it for what it is, and use it to your benefit. Nobody came in and said “that pack is shit” or something. And nobody told that it was a problem. It was an helpful suggestion. That’s all.

There was no attitude behind what I said. I didn’t say anyone in particular said anything rude at all. Read my post. If that’s what you took out of what I said the same can be said on the reverse. I don’t need an explanation of what constructive criticism is I’ve got that in check thanks.

Don’t miss understand what I was saying. I have no problem with anyone here.

Yeah, I know. I got what you were saying. I was reacting to the whole thread, not just your post. And I was talking to everybody, not just you.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

It’s all good man no worries

You’re right, I prolly did overreact. Near triple digit weather + high humidity don’t do much for reasoning. The point I was trying to make with the shell is that I have to apply a LOT of pressure to the shell to get the holes lined up to place the bolts in, before I can tighten them down. It’s a MAJOR pain in the ass, & I don’t wanna take the shell off, unless it’s for major maintenance. Lights being a little slow doesn’t exactly qualify in my mind as “major”, although you were right, they WERE slow. To me, it didn’t matter. And anyone who thought it was a glaring mistake could just look away. But after several of you said something, I finally broke down & got the shell off to fix it. As I said earlier, I know the N-filter is off, but that’s just gonna have to STAY off. I put it in with gorilla glue, & it’s NOT gonna move, short of an act of God. And if I try to force it out, I’m afraid of breaking the shell. Which is the last thing I wanna be doing. It’ll come loose at some point, & I can fix it then.

Joker, sorry if it seemed like I was complaining, I think you did an awesome job on your pack. When I mentioned the lights, it was only a suggestion, nothing more.

Anyways, great job! :crunch:

Yeah, I know. I was gonna blow it off, but that kept bugging me all damn day, till I finally broke down & fixed it.
