These sound great! I’ll prob be picking some up from you soon. I do have a few questions though. If I rigged up my existing 4MB chip to the one with the sound loop, specifically the proton pack hum, I would think the turn off/on and firing sounds would be loud enough that you wouldnt hear the humming correct? Basically what I’m going for is after I turn on the pack I want the hum to be non-stop until I turn it off, but if firing I would like the sound to be louder.
Also is there a way to rig the MT500 sound module to all use the same button?
The last bit of the video shows that the last port on the module cycles through the sounds with the press of one button, so yes, it does. I was happy to see this.
Rob, expect the Houston Area Ghostbusters to order the MT500 chips soon. We have some of the talkies, and have been discussing how to put sound in them.
Ok, so when the master power on the proton pack is flipped the regular sound board plays the start up sound. You want the hum to also start playing when that switch is flipped, only it will be playing on a second sound module. That is exactly how you wire it. What I would do is have your 2 speaker set up. A nice 5-6" speaker for good bass tones for the second sound module so the hum is deep. The switch lead that goes to pack start would also go to hum loop. This will hold the loop playing until the flip switch activates pack stop sound, which will also release the hum.
Now to make the hum change volume when activating the proton discharge sound. hmmmm. I know it can be done, and I think it has to do with impeding the signal to the speaker that is playing the hum sound. So the button that activates the proton discharge needs to be wired to the speaker and interrupt the signal slightly. Possibly a resistor inline. Let me pick my friends brain on that one and get back to you. I think though wiring a secondary circuit through the switch may pose a potential problem with the primary sound board if power is being sent through. It may require some tricky wiring.
As stated the MT500 has the final bank with a single button to cycle through. I placed the sound files in order so they made sense to the chronology of the scene, except the “i feel funky” which was not in order. But If someone wanted to swap them around for a custom set up so you can play the role of one of the characters, I can easily remove and rearrange all the sound to your liking.
Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but I have a question. Does anyone know of a place where you can find the firing sound from Ghostbusters 2? I was watching it the other day, and I noticed in the court room scene, that when the guns are fired, it makes a different sound then the first movie. There’s an initial starting sound before it goes into the typical sound used in all the sound kits. Let me know if anyone has it so I can forward it on to Rob for when I order my sound chip,
Ted, I have the sound from the video game programmed on my chip, which is very similar to the GBII courtroom battle. Search around the boards for the files from the video game, and if you can’t find it, PM me, and we’ll figure a way to have them sent to you.
Ive got the 4m pack sound and its awsome.I think the radio will be next but im gonna use a ht1000 radio sence thats what the game radios are and make some mp3s from the game and upload them spider witch battle and slimer would work well for conventions.
Hey Rob, I got a question, I already have the 4mb proton pack sound chip installed and am interested in getting the loops chip. If I place the new chip on the same breadboard and have the power into the chip via jump wires, i won’t need another power supply will i? I mean, the chips are dormant until the buttons and switches are activated right? I understand I’m gonna need to have a load of hidden buttons and switches on the back of my pack to have the loops going one more thing (columbo style) I would like both chip to be run into the canakit amplifier but as I understand, wiring both to the amp isn’t going to the best for them. I’d need to install a switch to alternate between chips wouldn’t i?
no i already have the mt500 i was wondering if i could buy the sound board/speaker/battery pack all ready to just “fit” inside the mt500? as in no soldering etc i could probly manage doing a switch hole myself or possibly wireing up the switch wires to the actual mt500 button
please let me know on this as im not too good when it comes to electricals
its why i opted for exorays pack and gun kit as it was entierly plug and play
You can share the same power and of course the bread board, the only thing you have to isolate is the output. The signals from each module need their own speaker. That is only if they are playing at the same time, as the speaker will distort.
Same goes with the amp, since it is a mono amp it can only handle input from one source.
