- I think that we should get a new prop section especially devoted to “proto-type” or improved weapons!!! Huh? It would really neat to see what cool stuff people could come up with!

I’d be interested in doing that. I was working on a ghostbuster movie with some of my friends and we talked about that and had come up with a few designs, one was a combo between the proton pack and Slime blower. I’ll take a loot at home and see if I have some pictures of my prototypes to post. We ended up decideing against it because when we finish we didn’t want to piss off the fans. which we are working on now for you guys.

It would be interesting to see what others come up with, but a new section to the forums would fall under AJ’s discression. I say ask him about that.
I’m not sure how many people would actually use an entirely new section devoted to that. Most people expend their creative energy making replica props, that they don’t have enough left over to design something from scratch. Perhaps it’s just not time- maybe give it a few years, and then when everyone is totally bored with cookie-cutter props.
Maybe just an ongoing thread on the subject would be better for now. Here, see? This is the thread for prototype ghostbusting equipment. Show us what ya got!

Hey thats not true, I designed a completely new Proton Pistol for my fanfilm that I could post in that section.
I dont know about other people , but after so many years of seeing people with the exact same packs on gets boring . I am planning a gb movie of my own , and am designing entirely new packs . they do have the " looks like it could blow up any second look " , but are more streamlined . hopefully once they are built This new section will be started . 
actually I see no reason that a prototype or alternate designed pack cant go in the packs section.. under a certain subject.. then you will see how many post in it.. and if it needs its own section.. prototype or alternate props are always fun to look at.. I have different pke designs that are great.. but I like to see them in the sections they are immitating..
Actually I made a prototype pke meter. Was my first attempt at a prop. The led’s do light up when you switch it on, and it looks… Well.. Poor Lol, but hey it’s the experimenting that was the fun in building it. I’ll post pics soon as I take some.
It’s probably fairer to ask: ‘Would people want a prototype section?’
There are fans who build props that don’t resemble the film ones, either through new experimentation or because they’re unable to find accurate parts (Or, in a newer third option, building functionability, like a PKE Model which is actually a fully functioning EMF Meter).
Personally… I don’t think at the moment there’d be enough activity to support a whole new section, but that’s me.
Mind you, I do create renders of new equipment, for use with the fanfic group I’m in, Ghostbusters UK, and I do like to display those… so I’d at least be in favour of a place for displaying designs, if people didn’t have the ability to take them to the next inevitable step.
