I’m working on designing a website for this comicshop I hang out at, lol. I’m familiar with HTML, its just a matter of brushing up on it. My question is does anyone know anything about webservers, buying websites, FTP’s and all that good stuff. I know how to make the site just not where to put it and how to buy my own domain “www.mysite.com” ??

My opinion for the newbie is http://www.godaddy.com register the domain there and get a small hosting package for starters…

I did mine for pretty cheap ( and for a lot more space and bandwidth than I could ever use ) by going through Canaca.com
If a webhosting company offers unlimited bandwidth or a rediculously high amount for cheap.. they will close your account if you use a lot. Its a ploy to get people to sign up.. most customers don’t use that much bandwidth.
A good guess at how much it costs per GB of transfer is in the $1-$2 range. GBProps uses that much everyday..
