Totally down for that and what I’ve been hoping will happen. Never know!
Amen you guys. I would like to see some respectful references rather than them going (If it has anything to do with the original it is either stupid or lame, Ha Ha ha ha!! Isn’t that just funny?), Like Lando though I am a little more open with where this movie goes now, just because the comic has recently been given new life. Since the original world is still alive and moving forward at IDW, that to me speaks volumes. As far as if this is Dan’s Cameo, in my head I am convinced that the Original Ghostbusters were shut down by the government at some point and covered up all knowledge of their existence and Ray now works as a cab driver. Of course what are the odds that a new crop of Ghostbusters that pop up happen to come up with the exact same logo? Well this is how my silly mind works. 
We will see how it plays after I see the movie.
I just don’t understand why you have to try and fit this movie into the original universe.
Can’t it just be a parallel universe?
I like the whole parallel universe idea which would’ve been funny if Dan would’ve been Dean Stantz. Like the Ray of the Feig verse is a staunch, uptight Dean of a college and Winston is Leslie Jones’ uncle Winston. Then what would be neat is at the end when they cross the streams (you know they will) and they rip a whole in the dimensional fabric and briefly catch a glimpse of the OGB’s battling Gozer (stock footage from the original Film) that only Kate McKinnon notices and in the post credit teaser she replicates the tear and sees Ray looking back at her. Damn that would be awesome lol
Like others stated, awesome. Maybe they can do this with a part of the movie (your idea is great). Would be interesting if they did that, THEN we see Dan drive by them in a cab “I ain’t afraid of no ghost” and they just have a stunned look, turns to a smile and there is a passing of the torch. Ok that gave me chills. We can hope right?
I would like it if this weren’t a reboot, but that ship has sailed. Tying this movie to the others is not happening. The ideas expressed here are creative but would not work in practice. Ultimately it would be too forced and the vast majority of people would not understand what is happening.
I think a great way to pull it off is if you have an after credits scene where Dan, Bill, Ernie or any other original GB member is alone sitting in a theater talking about their thoughts on the movie, clearly as their original characters as if this is just a movie in their universe and they’re the real deal. No crazy parallel universe needed, or anything. Just a tiny shot at the end after the movie itself is even finished. I’d be okay with that.
That’s actually pretty funny and reminiscent of that Real Ghostbusters episode where they watched the original film. Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis. Sounds like a lawfirm.
That’d be kind of funny, but I’d only be happy if John Lovitz was also there dressed as Jay Sherman and he ended the movie by saying “It stinks!” All of these unneccesary reboots of old franchises kind of remind me of the spoofs from the critic.
I personally would prefer they stayed as far away from the original as possible and just did their own thing.
Being a hard reboot, I don’t think there really was a need to reference the original at all. I would have even preferred they used a different logo.
But if they’re going to poke at the original I’d like something better than this weak “wink wink nudge nudge” stuff it looks like were getting.
It’s stupid because it makes Wiig’s character look foolish and pedantic. The phrase 'I ain’t afraid of no ghosts" is not a double negative, It’s a colloquialism. You would interpret it as “I am not afraid of any ghosts”.
It’s going to have the wrong audience response. Don’t put the real Ghostbuster in the fake Ghostbusters movie and expect people to care about the fake Ghostbusters, taxi driver or not.
