what was changed in GB II, per Bill Murray?

just something i’m genuinely interested in…

i remember reading,on more than one occassion, that Murray wasn’t happy with GB II ,because some stuff was changed from the script he signed off on while they were filming…i know the ending battle with Vigo was changed (but i don’t know what the original scripted version was)..

does anyone know,or have a list,of what scenes were changed that made him unhappy? also curious as to know how these scenes were originally scripted…

anyone?

I’d explain, but this article about the In Defense of the Indefensible screening sums it up nicely, with a lot of hard to come by information about what changed and why everyone was disappointed. It’s a fascinating read.

Thanks for the link that was a great read.

yeah it was…

interesting how most of the people involved were more interested in the money aspects, rather than making sure it was a good movie…no wonder Murray’s reluctant to do a 3rd one…

Incredibly interesting read, and very, very enlightening. Clarifies a lot of points, and pretty much explains why there won’t be a Ghostbusters 3 ever (and why it shouldn’t)

Moranis for Mayor: that’s the first thing you have to understand about movie making: it’s a business. The goal of a business is to make money, nothing more. That’s the cold, hard fact.

def a good read. But that contract clause about Reitman being the only one to direct a GB sequel. It’s been over 20 years, don’t these contracts eventually expire?

Shocking huh?

I doubt it. The contract is probably for the duration of Reitman’s life. Unless he hands over the reins, he’ll be the director on any future GB movie.

I heard something about the Ghostbusters going underground not to find Slime, but to find some weird Trolls or Gnomes living under the streets. I remember reading this somewhere that this was the original concept that Murray was “all for”.
