What's your favorite 'Ghostbusters' songs & Why?

"Ghostbusters, ghostbusters, spirits in the night/

Ghostbusters, ghostbusters, somethin’ here ain’t right/

Ghostbusters, ghostbusters, makes you wanna scream/

Ghostbusters, ghostbusters, get a ghostbustin’ machine!"

Alex

My top 2 would be:

Savin’ The Day

and

On Our Own

Mine will ALWAYS be “Bobby Brown-On Our Own”

This isn’t from either movie nor TRG… this is my favorite Ghostbusters song so far of all songs Ive ever heard from anyone.

“On Our Own” is at the top of my list and “Saving the Day” is my second favorite. I love the scenes where they are heading to the final battle in the Ecto and those songs make the scenes even better.

Gb1:

Saving the day, because it’s epic!

Ghostbusters, it’s the theme!

GB2:

One our own, extended version, great beat!

Ghostbusters, its the theme!

Spirit, spooky funk!

“Flip City,” I like how it references the theme of negativity run amok in the movie, it’s not just a rockin place filler. That “She used to want me,” part doesn’t really fit, but I guess you can’t have a pop song without making it about a girl and guy somehow, lol.

Also “I Can Wait Forever.” In a weird way it reminds me of Peter and Dana’s relationship, the whole “I know it’s worth it all to spend my life alone, with you.” I honestly can’t really picture them ever really marrying and settling down. Their love feels more like the classic “They can never be together, but they will always be together.”

What’s funny, is that because of so much Editorial Interference and other bullshit over the years, I started to associate it with Egon and Janine. I even had it played at their wedding in a fan fic.

But I admit, that’s an interesting thought with Venkman and Dana, too.

Ooo, nice, that’s a great point, I hadn’t put that together. I guess either way, it’s one thing I like about GB I and II, they did try to put a semi realistic face on adult relationships. They’re beautiful, but they’re complicated and don’t always have clear cut happy endings.

The theme remix from the C3 Picasso commercial by the Streetlife DJs, Hometown Hero. And Bustin’ by Neil Cicierga of course.

I personally love the track “Finish” from the Elmer Bernstein score. Such a beautiful piece. It’s from the end of the movie when they’re rescuing Dana.

im sorry. can someone please show me the post or thread that has the soundtracks all on the one post/thread? I cannot find it again. It was nice having the whole sound track online to listen too. Youtube doesn’t have all the songs.

Spook Central Spook Central - theraffon has every GB the soundtrack.

Since so many of them blend back and forth on which is actually my favorite, I’ll list my favorite from each.

Ghostbusters Soundtrack: Savin The Day

Ghostbusters II Soundtrack: On Our Own

Ghostbusters Score: Judgement Day (this is my ringtone… everyone knows it as “The Bridge Music”)

Real Ghostbusters: Driving Me Crazy

I like all the songs from GB1 and 2 except for “Spirit” from GB2. Idk but that song often tends to annoy me.

“SPIRIT SOME PEOPLE HEAR IT, PEOPLE FEAR IT, SPIRIT SOME PEOPLE JUST WONT GO NEAR IT”

I always thought Doug E. Fresh’s “Spirit” was really underrated.

Though not on the soundtrack, this song is referenced in universe.

The article top right on the cover (Song of Shannon):

Refers to this, from November 1983; (known as the first freestyle record in history):

It has a very 1984 feel to it.

Edit: Which in turn was remixed into this in 2009:

Lot of cool iconic GB tracks for sure. But, c’mon people - I have to chime in with some ultimate 80’s pants off dance off.

Spike the Ecto Cooler, and wheeze the juice. Music shouldn’t be explained, it should be experienced. :boogieman:
