Where to get GB1 Ribbon Cables in 2026?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a GB1 ribbon cable currently. I messaged the Fincher FB account but I’m not sure if they are still active. Any leads would be appreciated, thank you!

Fincher is, as far as I know, the only place to get them and he only does limited runs. Best bet is to just keep an eye on his page and wait for an announcement and jump on the list as fast as you can.

How often does he do runs? I had the same question

C&A Props do GB1 cables very regularly. They are pretty good quality. I’ve had one on my pack for years with no issues

This is actually really good to know! I bought mine from TGBCablery on Etsy two years ago for my Spirit pack, but I think he’s stopped doing them now. Mines looking a little bit tatty now, but I want to use it on my Hasbro 84 pack, so if I can get a new one, great!

Shocked to see no one mentioning Wirefauna. That’s where I got my cable and I love it. They do runs sporadically and are also the cheapest of the options while still maintaining excellent quality.

They are not currently doing a run, but if you message them to ask about being added to the mailing list for the next run, they’ll message you when they’re about to open orders.

Thanks @nomake-wan I’ve just messaged these sellers as my GB1 ribbon cable is looking a bit tatty and starting to delaminate in places.

How long do they last?

I’m not too sure myself but I’m sure others on here would have more knowledge on this. I bought my current GB1 cable two years ago, but it’s starting to look a bit tatty. It’s starting to delaminate in places. That being said, how long they last will probably depend on how well they’re made in the first place. Maybe my current one just wasn’t made as well.

From the options above, I believe Fincher are the absolute best. They made the actual ribbon cables used in the films, and I believe they’re also the ones that Adam Savage uses, so they may last a lot longer. Some cables also have more of a glossy sheen, whereas the Fincher ones have a nice matte finish, so perhaps they use a different laminate.

As an update, after messaging the above, Fincher said they’re clearing a backlog that will probably be up to Halloween, so probably a bit of a wait with them. Wirefauna said similar, but Andrew at C&A props was super helpful and was able to make me one up and send it out to me on Monday, so hopefully I should get that in a week or so. I think he said he has enough to make maybe a couple more too.

I think I’ll go that route as well

I guess it depends how much of a rush you’re in. Andrew at C&A was really good and I’m sure his ribbon cable will be great, but I think Fincher are probably still the gold standard, so if you’re going Mack’s for your pack and wand and you’re going for absolute screen accuracy, you may want to hold out until Fincher are taking orders again.

To be honest, I’ll probably still order a Fincher one too when they become available, use the C&A one on the Hasbro pack I’m building now, then save the Fincher one, either to replace the C&A one if it gets tatty in the future, or maybe if I ever do a proper Mack’s pack too.

Not really sure what to do. I want Fincher but at c and a prices

I have to admit I don’t know the Fincher prices. How much are they?

I know the C&A ones are $75 plus shipping, which is about the average and the same as I paid for my TGB Cablery one two years ago.

so after I just received a C&A ribbon cable and I couldn’t be happier. Quality is great, their service was great. Overall great experience, would recommend.

That may be the price for Fincher too I can’t recall

Yeah the GB1 ribbon cables are not the cheapest, especially when you can get a GB2 for around $20, but they’re such an iconic part of the pack, if Fincher’s are that price too, I’ll definitely be buying one. It’s one of those stand out parts of the pack that you will just notice if it’s not quite right.

My C&A ribbon cable got delivered on Saturday, so pretty speedy considering I’m in the UK, and I’ve installed it already:

It’s pretty good. Nice and flexible to not too hard to install.

Looks pretty nice

Yeah it’s pretty good, I’m happy with it, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s perfect, a few little imperfections. It’d be good to see how it compares to a Fincher one.
