Where to get large flange rivets?

Ok, so I’m going for GB1 with my pack (though the grey crank knob escapes me, have to deal with black sadly).

So while I have socket-head cap screws, I really need 3/16th Large Flange Rivets.

However… I’ve tried ACE, Kragen Auto and, god help me, Home Depot and NO-WHERE seems to stock large flange rivets in the bay area. Most places don’t seem to have heard of them.

Any idea where I could find them? It’s getting close enough to Halloween to be considered urgent :frowning:

I swear I saw them at ACE ( or Do it Best) the other day. They stuck out cause I never saw them with that big of a flange in a BM store before.

I think I saw some at a Pepboys recently.

Although it doesn’t help you at this late stage I sell them at www.multimediamayhem.net

Pkg of 10 for $4 plus S&H

I have yet to see them at any hardware store, so if I did happen to see the large ones, they would stand out to me too. Sounds like they’re a hit and miss in those places, less hit more miss

They are used commonly in both autobody and golf cart repair. Ask local autobody shops or find a place that works on or builds golf carts. If you cant find them there, you’re gonna have to go online with MMM or another supplier.

I know i saw them in a place they should be. They were near like adhesives and spray paint for some reason.

I’m totally willing to pay for express shipping irricanian

atm that looks like my only option :frowning: No auto stores around here seem to even know what I’m talking about (they just go - here are the rivets…" “no, I want large flange rivets” “right, rivets. Here” “these are not the rivets I am looking for” “but.. but.. these are rivets” argh)

I’ve tried all three ACE stores near me (of varing sizes) and none of them stock them. They stock standard rivets though.

Ok, so I found some - and at an ACE shockingly. I found an outlet near the Zynga offices and wandered there over lunch.

  • they are ace branded

  • this ace is a huuuge ace that specializes in construction and industrial supply (Center Hardware in SF on 16th if anyone wants to know)

  • out of the approx 40 types of rivets they had they only had one of this wide flange (and it was 3/16ths - yaaay) and it isn’t marked as anything special, I just saw they were larger heads.

So in conclusion - they are a freaking bitch to find, and are probably only in the larger outlet/supply style stores.

phew

and that’s why “Ace is the Place”. Congrats!

Glad you got sorted, there was no way i could get them to you by Halloween and still give you time to utilize them.

They are abundant here up in the great white North, every size in stock at Brafasco “the fastner specialists”

They are used to hold window tracks and up/down mechanisms in many car doors so almost any body shop will have them on hand as swapping door insides is a common job… Many people have simply walked into body shops and were handed some for free…

Glad you found them though…

That’s what I thought… but nowhere around here had them. Even the auto places… was very frustrating
