another movie or video game instalment? only reason i brought this topic to notice is that we’ve been seeing alot of news and updates on the video game,and less about the possible live sequel.don’t you agree? or maybe harold ramis or dan ackroyd will probably let us know about something in the next few months or come the time the game and blue-ray discs come out who knows?
I’d have to play the game before I gave you an answer…but I’m leaning towards video game.
if it has to be a movie, at this point I’d much prefer a remake to another sequel. I’m really interested to see how ghostbusters would be interpreted in the 21st century. If they did it right; we’d have a whole new slew of props to choose from.
Video game hands down! It’s a more practical, realistic way of continuing the GB story in a way that can satisfy fans. We can see the GB as we know and love them. A new movie will NEVER satisfy fans. We want the original guys but that isn’t feasible anymore because of their age. But even if we could’ve gotten the original gang centre stage it still would’ve sucked. There is no way a movie sequel made over 20 years after the last one will have any chance of being good. The game on the other hand can push the franchise forward with a new ambitious story while maintaining the GB universe we grew up with. Setting it in 1991 was such a genius move on the developers part for that very reason.
Beyond that… well like roborob said I’ll have to get back to you after I ACTUALLY play the thing.
I would like to see a animated series based after the game. I would be interested to see if Ackroyd considers Extreme part of his canon, id imagine not.
Maybe it could dive into rookies past, if the game doesnt…or even another team start up, Rookie at the helm? maybe not.
a animated series that looks closer to the original movies…thats all i ask for. such a simple ask…
i know i probably shouldn’t haven’t have brought up this topic seeing as though the game hasn’t been released yet,but i just felt you know the need to get it out.on one hand the game looks like it will do the ghostbusters franchise justice,after the long line of mediocre games,but on the other hand it’s been 21 years since we’ve seen another movie sequel that involves the original crew.however,to be blunt i would rather the franchise go the video game direction,because let’s face it ghostbusters hasn’t been getting the perfect video treatment it deserves,and we’ve had plenty of star wars,gears of war,metal gear solids,guitar hero’s and superhero games in which some are good and some are terrible.doesn’t it feel time that an awesome franchise like ghostbusters is given it’s due?
I would prefer a video game. Really if they make a new movie who wants to see they boys all bald with old balls running around it would be more sad then anything and I LOVE GB so lets just keep them looking like we saw them last.

Aw, it’s gotta be the video game. Even if it’s a terrible experience, at least you get to actually be IN the action.
But I’m with Charlie, a new animated series would be the next logical step as opposed to another 80’s franchise just upping and heading straight for Hollywood.
Personally I’d like to see the franchise go both ways (Giggedy) I mean I love the look of the video game and I also know that making video games will keep the boys in Grey young looking and keep the franchise up and running however I do think that if it just stays a video game that it looses something in itself and should have another movie.
Only thing is now a days theres no body funnier than the original cast. A new cartoon would be cool but it seems only real way we’d get a more movie based cartoon is if it were an anime. All American cartoons end up loosing themselves in the goofy slapstick jokes, don’t get me wrong I love slapstick but it should’t really be in Ghostbusters.
I actually would love to see a new “generation” of Ghostbusters try their hand at paranormal investigation ( and elimanations lol ) Obviously the original guys are past their prime, but that doesnt mean they can’t be in a new live action movie. They could be there to mentor and train the new recruits and essentailly " pass the torch" to the new wave..

Winston , Ray , and Egon are on a job , struggling to get even the weakest of foes into the trap, sweat is pouring down their brows. With hard breaths and glazed over eyes they look at each other and agree....They Need Some Help! lol
So they go out trying to “recruit” members…But Of course the proposition of catching demons and poltergeist for little pay and long hours isnt exactly a dream job for many scientists. I could picture alot of funny scenes with them getting turned down and laughed at by the scientific community.
So then they take a different route…instead of scientists they look towards gifted college kids ( similar to Extreme GB )
Just the notion of incorporationg these immature college kids into the mix already heightens the potential for comedic elements and story telling.

ANother element could be team dynamics , everyone wants to be the leader but no one knows how to approach it the right way, Thats where Peter shows up and gives em an old school approach to Ghostbusting , LOL i could picture him yelling out orders , nick-naming everyone in the process lol *
I dunno i really think a live action movie could be done very well if it were of the " Passing of the Torch" type. That way the potential for future growth for the franchise increases as well as simultaneously closing a chapter on the original boys.

I definitely want more games and another live action movie as long as it doesn’t involve a team of “new recruits”. The horrible cliche of “New School meets Old School” has been done to death. I frankly want the Ghostbusters as the heroes, not a group of “Who’s hot in Hollywood” young actors.
I also think an animated series would be awesome. And this time make it darker using likenesses of the actors instead of the RGB route.

Has anybody read westend games Tobin’s Spirit Guide? The forward is one of the best parts. Ray finds it in an old building that he had dreamed about the night before and goes in and finds it. Any way it’s more spooky and like something that they would have had in The Real Ghostbusters. I think what they should do is make a new movie after the game comes out but they would have to tie the two in. See one way the game could end is the Ghostbusters could get sucked into a rip in the fabric of time created by the final ghost they fight in the game. The only person left behind to figure out what would happen and to get things rolling again would be the Rookie. He has the tools and now he has the talent. Now the way to bring the originals back is they are in the past but can leave notes or info in the past that the Rook can find in the future as to what just happened to them and how to get them back. They of course would be old when he would find them in the past finally. As to how he would find them I’m not sure but the story could be really good. Also I think that they should have a game or movie based on the original script where they travel through time busting ghosts. Seeing as how the game won’t end the way I have described, my idea is just that my idea and thoughts. I look forward to playing the game and what ever they decide to do after will be better than the years we’ve had without Ghostbusters.
I would prefer a series of video games to continue the universe.I don’t think live action would work out very well.Just look at the difference from GB1 to GB2.I think everyone can agree that GB2 lost a bit from the first one and any continuation in movie form would probably continue to go further down.

in a way it would be cool if the sequel was computer animated a suggestion that dan ackroyd stated back in early 2007. see that way sony would avoid the bum rush of worring about the high cost of effects and location settings therefore the ghostbusters would retain the way they looked back in the 80’s as they do in the new video game,however the video game is sort of fullfilling that request for us.both in seeing the next chapter in the series,and us being apart of the story as well.what do you say?
New video with the guys at the comic-con this past weekend is up over at Sci-Fi wire that is fun to watch but drops an interesting tidbit, apparently not only are the developers talking sequel ideas( no surprise there) but as a gamer and viewer we will be able to see the possible sequel opportunities in the game. ( I would love a sequel that takes place a few years closer to the year 2000 myself…of the end of the world possibilities. lol
