Another slap in the face to Winston… the 4 pack mini mates include…Dana Barret!
Where does Ernie reside? Some of us should pitch him a short film done in a jokingly serious style that pokes fun at being forgotten by his other team mates…we already have the packs and cars to pull it off :)…
Or we could simply edit GB2 and leave him out, but that would mean Ray and Egon would have burned to death in the photo lab. They really need to start showing some more respect to Winston, or he may stop saving their lives!
There have been times where I half wondered that if the cartoon hadn’t made him a name more equal to the other three, they wouldn’t have put Winston in the sequel at all. (Same with Janine, since they basically wrote her like she was a completely different character.)
Not basically writing him out of the first third of the movie would have helped a lot in that regard, though.
GB III should just be called Winston the Movie!!! Just look at Ernie Hudson he hasn’t aged at all, I mean he is so pimpin he wont need the other 3 guys in fact Egon should just make 3 Winston clones for GB 3 and that can be the new team. All I know is that the GB’s need Winston to keep them in check and keep them looking cool, ghost put themselves in the trap just knowing Winston is coming to get them. Besides the GB franchise needs a cool cat like Winston to bring a little flavor to the mix, he’s always been my favorite GB since I was a kid and still is.
Yeah, I agree. Winston was always my favorite, followed closely by Ray. It’s always really bothered me how little Winston get appreciated by most casual GB fans.
Ouch. That is a bit offensive. Still, I have to say it’s a bit understandable Winston gets forgotten so much (love him though I do).
It’s not about race, it’s about archetype and placement. His part in the films, particularly the first.
He was 1: T he last full Buster to join in the movie, giving him less screen-time and thus less chance for us to get attached.
and 2: The strait man, meaning he was performing the more thankless job in the humor, much in a Zepo Marx/Margette Dumont way. I very necessary, but much less appreciated task.
Between these, he doesn’t get as much respect as the others.
And he is the friendliest to the rookie. Always cheering for him and all. Being a recruit GB, I would hang with Winston all the time. Maybe with Ray too, except when he’s in manic mode. Egon is creepy, and Peter is a jerk.
