I’m getting my wife an outfit together for halloween and was going to just go the dickie’s dress route, but to my surprise she’d rather have a full flight suit like mine.
I’ve been looking at sizing charts and ebay every day and have a few questions hopefully someone can help.
My wife is very small, 4’11" 110lbs so she’s quite tiny. I found some women’s nomex suits on ebay size 34ws (according to the auction the w means wide and the s means short, but no other measurments given) No 34ms (regular short) or any other women’s suits at all for that matter.
So my question is for anyone with a women’s suit or a smaller 32s or 34s suit, would they fit a small woman? And do you think there’d be much difference between a 34ws vs. a 34s? I’m thinking the one made with a woman in mind might be a bit slimmer and more tailored, however the “wide” makes me question this.
I was thinking that too, but he had other women’s suits listed and the tag clearly shows 34MS vs the 34WS. Both tags under the size say women’s suit. The 34MS, however, was Sage Green, so not helpful for me.
My suit is a G&B ladies suit I snagged on Ebay. It’s listed as a 2R. I’m not sure what it corresponds to in the 3# sizes, but I remember during my quest to find a suit figuring out that a men’s 32S or an XS was also an option if I couldn’t find a women’s suit.
I’m 5’2" and 100 lbs on a good day and the suit fits like a glove, though sometimes it can feel a bit snug and I find myself wishing it were a little baggier to match the movie. I never had to make any alterations to it, lucky me. Since your wife is a few inches shorter than I am I’d say to go for a 32 (men’s or women’s) as well, but keep an eye out to see if there are any that have the shorter legs. If not, she can just blouse the bottom of her pants in her boots, or a tailor could hem them!
As far as I know the main difference between men’s and women’s suits is bigger hips and smaller waists for the women. And we also look slammin’ jammin’ bootylicious in them. Male fashion hasn’t caught up with that… yet.
I’m not sure what it’s like for a lady to wear a men’s suit, as most of my guy friends are twice my size. But really, if she thinks it’s too baggy in places I’d consider taking it to a tailor.
And hey, don’t be afraid to ask the sellers for measurements on parts of the suits if you’re really worried. I don’t want to assume much since I know us ladies are all built in different ways (I never had to worry too much about chest measurements, haha). Taking and comparing measurements is the best way to go if you’re in doubt. Most sellers are willing to take a tape measure to their products to help make a sale.

34ws was the smallest women’s size we could find and fit great. Once I’m done with the rest of the outfit we’ll get some pictures. Thanks for all the help everyone.
