Hi all. Saw an unboxing on YouTubeof a 3d printed firehouse in a 1:12 scale and wanted one but couldn’t afford the cost so thought I’d start on my own. I’m no good with 3d printing so settled on wood. Its taken me a couple months already to get to the point where the facade is almost complete. Thousands of hand cut bricks later and its starting to look like something. Dimensions are a bit of a guess from what I could surmise from pics online, and some artistic liberties have been applied. Still not sure what to do with the inside. Kind of want to deck it out with a pool table and what not. Now with the upcoming release of the mondo ecto1 I’m half tempted to build the entire building.

That’s amazing! Great job so far.
remade the lower section as my proportions were way out of whack. Purchased a sign from the Diamond Select range of figures from a few years back. Painted and brick grout added. Still need to add a wash and make the doors, add electrics for lights some touch ups here and there…

That is fantastic. When I read you had cut the bricks, my mouth dropped. I applaud you as I would not have the patience to do that!

The cutting was the easy part. It was the gluing that tested my patience.

First attempt of the fleur de lis badge. I think the middle is slightly too bulbous. Made from polymer clay. Not entirely screen accurate, but pretty enough.

Work continues slowly. Rehanging the diamond select sign on an aluminium rod and real chain. Doors constructed from plywood, balsa, and styrene. First time using styrene! Awaiting “glass” and touch ups. Little handles made from copper wiring bent into shape. These were the second attempt at doors. The first had the insert doors that were a little small. They don’t open but they may be a project for a later date.
The decorative emblem is held on with a magnet. Again, this is v2 as the dog got a little too excited a little too near and knocked the first one off breaking it into a few too many pieces.
The base plate is more plywood sprayed with rustoleum bed truck liner for a more concrete texture like surface and then a grey primer, white spray paint, and various mixes of acrylics.
Hoping to get this finished for our Halloween display but still a bit to do. Ray will be MIA as there were issues from the place I ordered from. Grrr. Should hopefully get him in Jan.

Incredible work, man! I just built a O-scale kit in 1983 mode, having that much space would be wild! I love the GB2 selection, as well. Really, really great work.
All of my research is still pretty fresh in my mind. Here are few notes that would send it over the top that I didn’t see mentioned above.
-Yellow parking “cones” on both corners of the black bay door trim.
-“Hook & Ladder 8” lettering flanked with the 4 round blue/white stars
-The bay doors should be set in a bit more. They were mounted pretty far back. When the doors are open, though shouldn’t protrude past the front edge of the building.
-The weird silver pieces on both sides of the inside of the black door trim. (WTF are those?)
-Bronze plaque to the right of the bay doors
-White painted arrow under the ENTRANCE AROUND CORNER. There was black graffiti over the ENTRANCE lettering when they filmed in 88.
-2 red safety lights
-2 flood lights

I think it’s supposed to be a light to illuminate the archway, they also had it in the first movie.
I always thought it was a security camera. Figured I might use a bass/guitar string for the wiring and some polymer clay. Along with that whole list of things d_osborne stated, i still need to decide what to do with the windows; opaque, clear, semi opaque, a mix of some…

I know it wouldn’t be easy as good shots might be limited, but what about photos/screenshots of the Firehouse interior to go behind the window glass?

Almost at the point where I’ll be content with the completeness of it all for a while. Still waiting on lettering, all the lighting is connected and sequenced but needs a bit of tweaking, and added an AC unit and chainlink fence. Now that halloween is over it needs to be moved from the living room to its new home in the garage with the rest of my GB collection.
