Hey everyone. I’m working on getting both Ecto-1 and Ecto 1A Elite models LED lit up to screen accuracy. I’m also gonna be scratch building the Firehouse to the scale of the cars (1/18). Needless to say, it’s gonna be a huge building. I know I saw a thread floating around here somewhere but I can’t seem to find it. So does anyone know the dimensions of the Firehouse? That’d be the easiest thing to convert. If not; even a dimension of the actual “No Ghosts” sign from the movie would help. If I had that I could figure out the rest. Also before I get started on this, I’d love to hear everyone’s suggestions on which route to go.
The first would be building the Firehouse where only the exterior is shown, but making the bay doors operational so the cars can fit inside.
Or…
I could build it up, put the entire side of the building on a hinge, making it a door, sorta like a doll house and then recreate the entire interior from the ground floor up. (I’d have to leave out the basement though.) Thoughts???
That’s a very interesting project, so much that I started it once. I experimented with building the firehouse in the 1:21 scale (for the joydire Ecto-1). Then I aborted it in favour of finishing my Pack. And now I’d want to build it for the larger 1:18 ectos.
Here is a thread I created then, including links to other threads that helped me. I have an xls file somewhere with the dimensions and conversion formulas I used to calculate the building’s dimensions for different scales. I can go search it for you. PM me if you’re interested.
I’d go with building the Exterior and Working Doors.
Outside of Garage Accessories, there are not a lot of 1:18 scale items to choose from so you would be building almost everything on the inside from scratch.
True. Because of that I was building my firehouse in 1:24 scale even though the ecto was in 1:21 scale. At leas 1:24 is a common dollhouse scale. Now in 1:18 things aren’t that easy.
