I’ve been wanting a gray GB2 suit for a while. But I really don’t want to mess with color removers and dyes. Gibson and Barnes wants over $150 for a gray suit and I’m looking for a cheaper solution.
I was scanning ebay and found a place in the UK that has the gray flight suits. I found this:
A gray suit for around $80.00 shipped to the US. Granted the seller is in the UK and I need to find out how the measurements and sizes compare to the US suits. I have contacted the seller with the current size of my Tru-Spec kahki suit and my measurements to see which suit to order.
Alright, on my phone so don’t wanna click the link but the gb1 suits were a kakhi and the gb2 suits we’re a kakhi/ greenish, olive drab color. I don’t think they are gray presay but will check the link and my horrible spelling when I get home.
I just checked that link and thoes suits are too gray, but now I really want an orange suit to match my hat…

The GB1 suits were Khaki. The GB2 suits were.. even more Khaki.
The Grey (Charcoal / Navy) suits used in GB2 is what is being talked about here. Despite people going for Charcoal (a darker grey). I think the suits were Navy (dark) blue.
It’s soemwhat difficult to to determine this due to the lighting, but it’d be interesting if anyone’s who’s met Ernie Hudson (who occasionally wears his GB2 gray uniform) to say what they think the color is.
In my opinion, I agree with you AJ. My dyed GB2 suit was a combination of Denim Blue and Pearl Gray and looked very close to the onscreen ones. I wanna give it another go very soon with another suit to perfect the combination.
The fun thing about costuming is that this is a representation of the fan’s vision of the movies. I can see the merit of screen accuracy, but there is merit in being practical and developing your own vision as well.
I mean if we really need to justify things, its been thirty years since the first movie franchise started. Alot can change in thirty years, and if you or your franchise choose to wear black, charcoal or neon green jumpsuits I would say that is as acceptable a vision as any.
I think the rules should be : Keep it fun, look good and don’t completely mangle Columbia/Sony’s IP.
