A solid lead on GB1 Ribbon Cable?

Just noticed something interesting when looking through the Sony Ecto-1 photos from http://www.theecto1.com

Though incredibly filthy, the ribbon cable in this picture below (from a shot of the root rack) looks to be identical to the ribbon cable found on the GB1 packs. The only difference being the transucent spaces found on the pack version. Perhaps they tried to use the same cable for the pack but found it to be too thin, so they added the translucent spaces??? Who knows, but could spawn some interesting discussion.

What are your thoughts?

The pattern looks right but the gauge looks too small. Assuming that’s half inch or at most 3/4 split loom next to it the ribbon is too small by about 2/3.

Hmmmm. I dunno, looks dead on to me. Remember, that roof rack was massive.

Here’s another shot:

What’s the width of the steel tubing used for the roof rack? I highly doubt it’s 3" and the ribbon shown is smaller than that.

But remember, the pack ribbon cable had the transulcent spaces…probably to make it wider. So net/net, i bet this is the same stuff. I’m scowering the internet for it right now.

looks alot like a scsi cable from a sparc. wire gauge is too thin.

That wire is 28AWG.

The stuff used on the Proton Pack was 16AWG.

Yeah that stuff is tiny it also lacks the striped wires. The stuff on the packs wasn’t custom made for the pack (spacers or otherwise), it was a found cable. The colour pattern is common in ribbon cable assemblies.

well we just need to tear the right thing apart and find it. people say it is a found part, which i believe it is, but we sure are having one hell of a time finding said part…
