Its totally ruined horror movies for me. Whenever I watch a slasher or scary flick, I can’t stop thinking about how Dr. Stantz and Dr. Spengler would pick apart the supernatural powers of the villian, and then bring 'em down. If all that horror genre existed within the GB world, I would think by 1993, how soundly would the ghostbusters sleep upstairs if Freddy Krueger, Warwick’s Leprauchaun and Pennywise the Clown, were all held in containment in the basement??!!!
At the end of Pet Sematary, I can’t help but think how fitting a "Ghostbuster’s start - a la swirling ghost into the no ghost logo, and the back up singers scream “GHOSTBUSTERS!!!” … right when Rachel Creed’s corpse is about to slam that french knife into the skull of Louis Creed.
OR how Stantz and Spengler would be discussing Jason Voorhees’ powers as a destructable corporeal entity fuel by his mother’s ghost’s PKE - and blowing him apart with streams and then sucking Mrs. Voorhees into a trap.
OR the Ghostbusters traveling to Derry, Maine after the black librarian guy contacts the Ghostbusters after the child murders start again.
OR another trip to Springwood, where Egon sets up an experiement so they can dream with their proton packs on, pull Krueger out of a dream, and sucks his murderous slimeball self into a trap, while a smoking glove drops to the floor once the doors to the tap close.
Or when the Superintendent of the Cabrini Green Housing Projects in Chicago employ the boys to set up a trap by going into an apartment and calling for the Candyman, 3 times. Only this time he’s wrangled with a capture beam and slammed around the room!
Or while there in Chicago, they captured the possessor ghost of Charles Lee Ray, inhabiting a child’s doll.
…oh, horror movies are ruined. Well, they’ve been ruined, since childhood. I was always reliant on my pack and trap to counter any fear of monsters or anything. Ghostbusters always meant empowerment!
