alice to motherboard

how far down does it go?

looked at ref photos and tried a search an help

Stefan’s plans have holes marked on the mobo that I assume are mounted through the pre-existing holes in the ALICE frame. What I’m curious about is how the hell it’s sturdy without another screw in the middle post higher up on the mobo.

I just drilled another hole through the middle ALICE bar and straight through the motherboard for the third mounting point, I believe that’s what most of us do. There’s a screenshot in the HD ref thread that shows the third attachment pretty clearly.

Good call, I see what you mean. Man, drilling through steel is going to be a pain in the ass…

I have an aluminum motherboard from Irri (Multimediamayhem), and I drilled right through it with no problem. Aluminum is relatively “soft” and easy to work with, I’d highly recommend checking out MMM’s stuff.

how far down do you mount the alice pack on the back of the motherboard?

As you can see from this picture, there should be two slots on the bottom of your alice pack:

From there, they mount to the reference holes in Stefan’s plans:

and this is the location for the third point:
