Good day Ghostheads. I’m a long time enthusiast and fan of the franchise. I came often to this wonderful site but don’t post that much. Now I’m nearly done with my first gun built, I only have a few things to get and to fix, But I want to show the first result after a nearly 16 hours marathon in varnish the parts, sort all out, get things complete, drilling holes, checking the reference pics, putting the parts together, aging,…and so on. You know the steps at best.

I am still waiting for a heatsink which is ordered, and I had to improve a few hat lights. Also I still missing a 2nd grip for the handle. The overall built are all parts from umoribawar. Some are newer, some are older parts. But I was able to get all functional and fitting. For the aging I referred my steps to the pics from the Minnesota Planet Hollywood Pictures on the mainsite. I used real nycoils and an authentic clippard valve R701. You must think, well yes, we’ve seen that many times…but note…I’m overseas and I really love it to get all the authentic parts together, because in germany or elsewhere in europe you wouldn’t find those. Well, let’s take a look and reply to it if u have any suggestions what I have overlooked or what u like…etc.

Off to a good start!

There are a few things that caught my eye, The danger sticker you have used on the side of the gun body with the side disks is massive! It looks to me like you have chosen the wrong danger sticker to put there as the correct one is tiny by comparrison.

The green tubing you have used on the gun is the wrong color, you can get the correct green tube in the gbfans shop

Also when you are able to pick them up, you should get some proper hat lights and 1 red and clear Arcolectric neon indicator lamps..

Also it appears you have put a screw through the front end of the this knob

this is attached with a screw from inside the gun body. The front hole is left as … a hole :stuck_out_tongue: with no screw

Depends on the thrower he’s making… with rounded fins on the heatsink it would look accurate to a GB2 Semi-pro would it not?

yes you could be right…good point! but if that was the case shouldn’t the gun be made from fibreglass :wink:

Yes, you are right if we want to go into the realm of being accuracy hounds, lol. Nick has a beautiful new set-up for those purposes. I can’t see anyone complaining though about doing up a metal hero thrower in GB2 stunt style.

Alright let’s move on:

-Danger Sticker will be removed and exchanged.

-The correct green tubing is sold out..I have to wait for those…unfortunately..

-Hat lights and lamps are on its way

-pair of grips are also on the way

-the knob is left as it is, maybe I’ll remove that one for another one in the future

I’ll post progress pics when ordered parts are arrived and assembled. Fingers crossed that they’ll arrive soon.

I heard he’s no longer making these parts..so..this should be kind of a rare replica one day. a few minor things which I’ve done for me personally:

-the complete wand is made of aluminium

-the red button on the front handle is replaced with a clear red one (the original is a red one, no clear), but I liked the clear version better

-authentic rubber grips, no resin as usual used on replicas

-real world red, brown and black wires (coming outside the gunbox into the grib section)

-white hat light on top is “sticking out” (correct it would be coming from the inside out)

-the acrylic frosted tube can be “shot out” mechanical as seen in the movie

-the heat sink on the side is a real world item I’ve cutted to size by myself. This one was out of my old PC and it fitted so well…I couldn’t resist to use it

That looks great! To my eye though that heatsink is way too large and is spoiling the rest of the throwers greatness.

Nicks got a good point.

Though you could argue that it is to compensate for some other add-ons and turn it into a GB:TVG pack/thrower.

Just a thought.

In person the heatsink doesn’t look that tall. But I have in mind to replace it.

SPJ, that’s a good thought. Now I see it like a personal modified wand, kind of “what would it look like if I were a GB”

Andy I can send you a resin heatsink cast from a metal one free of charge if you like. Just to tie you over until you get a metal one.

How kind of you. Unfortunately you’re too late… :sigh: Umoribawar have send me a free one, as he likes the thrower also a lot and how it came out. :crunch:

The originals were resin though rubber has become popular in the replica community for some reason.

Gorgeous thrower…I love the aluminum throwers but damn, I can’t believe how hard it must be to cover all the purdy’ metal with black paint!!

The heat sink seems like it could keep your thrower cool even bustin’ on the Surface of the sun! :stuck_out_tongue:

As for the rubber heat sinks, it makes sense but I still wouldn’t want one. I have a resin one that I’ve had about 6 months that’s already chipped in 3 of the 4 corners and its never even been mounted. I guess the rubber remedies that, but seems a little goofy IMO, but that’s just me.
