I’ll save you the lashing from some of the more “passionate” members on this board. It’s been established through the community that the GB 1 unis were indeed Khaki, but not the same color as we know it today. The GB 1 unis seem to be a more washed out, grayer toned Khaki than what’s available today. That’s why in orange light (outdoor) they look tan and in blue (indoor) light they look grey.
Read my post (the very first one). In it you will notice I don’t make any mention of the suit being gray. Lots of other well known members have also posted about the uniforms being khaki in color. Yes, there are uniform threads that discuss gray dye but this was an old old old theory. I think we have pretty much accepted the khaki color as the standard color.
Also, in case you missed it the “official” Ghostbusters Wikipedia on this site has khaki listed as the GB1 uniform color.
I can take any screen shot and alter the color. I can take that Venkman screen shot and make the uniform gray. I can take the gray screen shots and make them khaki. All I have to do is play with the color variations. Getting the color exact on a dye job is almost impossible unless you have the suit on hand in person to compare. Photos will do you absolutely no good in matching 100% unless you know EXACT lighting conditions.
Yes, they’re khaki and they’ve always been khaki. I can’t tell you how glad I am that after almost 10 years of trying to convince people they WEREN’T gray, everyone’s finally listening.
Actually i dont think this guy henner has ever heard a word of our khaki argument Austin, he simply used his eyes and a little logic . . . like i wish everyone else did sometimes
no I haven’t actually. Like I said, to me the suits were khaki. I ALWAYS saw them as Khaki. As a child they were khaki.
The dialog in the first movie during the montage where the radio host calls them “The boys in gray” and a few sites using that nickname made me think Maybe I’m wrong?
Like I said - to ME they never looked gray. My GF thinks they’re gray but I think the scenes where venkman’s suit is wet speaks for itself, the slime brings out the dark hues in the fabric and it is indeed brown.
Glad to see the majority of people actually view them as khaki…
I thought my eyes have been wrong my entire life.
looking through the behind the scene shots, it seems because of the dull khaki color the suits would pick up on the lighting alot.
here’s one
the washed out gray looks almost like it has purple/red hues in it from the suits color/material/ and the lighting.
since the film is dark with a lot of indoor shots it looks gray - as seen in the jail picture up above.
all I could find before when I searched was just debate and dye recipes for gray.
never before have i watched very very slowly, a HD rip of a film just to double check the color of a costume.
Thank god I know now I’m not going crazy/need new glasses
well yeah, but with the colors adjusted - both Ernie and Bill’s skin tones are adjusted to a more lively tone. When just adjusting the color to begin with before they uploaded it, bringing out the true color of each skin shows the true color of the uniform too.
Which goes with what I (and what others before me have said) that the gray is the result of lighting changes.
