Attaching powercell injectors

I’ve got a wooden box built around the mini walmart strobe someone else linked.

I’ve got my injectors cut and ready to go in the powercell. Whats the best way to attach them?

nuts bolds and washers?

That’s what I did…

Hot glue. Lots of hot glue. The glue bonds to the fibers in the wood and bonds really decently. Plus once it’s painted it looks like welding.

I know its unorthadox and not screen accurate, but I would drill holes about an inch deep, drop some epoxy in there, and insert the tubes. Also, I would throw a screw in the side to secure it while it dries, also because its a general danger zone while manuevering through doors and such. A screw through the side and into the tubes will protect it from dropping off after a solid hit.

You can attach wooden dowels to the power cell box (with a lag screw from the inside of the box), and then slip the ends of the injector tubes over the dowels. You might not be able to find round dowel of the right diameter due to the larger size of the injector tubes, but square dowel will work. This is how I’m attaching mine.

I found some pvc plugs that fit into the tubes. I screwed the plugs to the to powercell and then slide the tubes over and screwed the tube to the plug. Its solid as a rock.

This is what I did w/ my pack (Thread). It’s a bit more work but I like the idea that I can remove parts of my Proton Pack if need be.

Inside the PVC I have a wooden dowel, that is attached w/ epoxy adhesive. The dowels are a couple inches in length and the entire bottom 1/3 is layered w/ the epoxy. Don’t need to coat the entire item, as you slide it in slowly (bow chicka wow wow) there’ll be excess being dragged off. This can be then coated onto the dry portion of wood. It’s a method to be more efficient w/ the epoxy since the stuff is $5/tube!

You can do this either before or after inserted but get threaded insert nuts. The outside is a very coarse thread, the inside is a fine machine thread. Get whatever size you have available, I just happen to use 1/4-20 because they’re pretty beefy. Drill a hold and thread them in.

This will allow you to simply bolt on your parts, and if you ever want to travel with or ship you pack (say you want to sell it or what have you) then you can remove these parts since they’d be the most likely to break off.

If you can’t find threaded inserts, or don’t plan on ever disassembling your pack, then you can get the same effect w/ the wooden dowels and coarse threaded Lag Bolts. They’ll bite into the wood and hold on strong. Drill a pilot hole for them to go into.
