Back to the future II question... what's bugging Marty?

This is a quiestion that hunted me every time I watched BTTFII, so I finally decided to look into it.

I have to ask you American guys, since I live in the boot-shaped country and this has of course to do with American culture that’s WAY out of my understanding.

Now, when Marty is in 2015 and right after the oldguy asks him 100 bucks for the clock tower, he sees the animated screen announcing that Cubs won the World Series against Miami, andhe looks surprsed.

So what up with that? I don’t know the first thing about Baseball. Is it strange because in 1985 Cubs sucked while Miami ruled in baseball?

Then, when the old guy tells him about going back in time, Marty is about to say something but gets interrupted…

-I just meant that Miami…-

so even in the Italian version there’s no explanation. I mean, I can imagine what it is, I’d only like to get confirmation…

Probably to you this is clear as water but to me is boah…

Fourth bullet point at the bottom… Miami didn’t have a baseball team at the time.

Yes, there was no Miami team in 1985. Also it would be very surprising to Marty that the Cubs would win since the Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908 (Over 100 years ago… over 70 years ago back in 1985).

Actually, Marty answers your question, but stops:

Guy- “I wish I could go back to the beginning of the season, and put some money on the Cubbies”

Marty- “I just meant Miami…what did you say?”

There is no Miami Gators team in the MLB at the time, and still isn’t.

The look on his face says it all… I think he has to poop.
