Barrel Tip.....

I’m in the middle of a pep build, working on the proton gun first. I was thinking about how I wanted the the clear barrel to work. I don’t really have the know how or access the parts to make an extending one, so I was trying to decide what length to make it. I like the look of it when it’s shorter, but then I watched the movie and realized something. Every time they are shooting the gun, the tip is extended. I re-watched every scene where they use the packs and only found one discrepancy to this. In the court room scene in GB2, after the chair sequence when all three of them are firing, they are all out. In the next shot of Egon, his is in. However, he doesn’t fire a stream the rest of the scene and Ray’s and Peter’s are out. So I’m wondering if it’s like a safety mechanism or just storing for transport so the barrel doesn’t get damaged. I haven’t read any comics or anything from the series, so I don’t know if they cover it. I’m now leaning towards the barrel being out all the time, since I can’t really make an extendable one.

Any suggestions or comments about the tip?

I think most people go with the extended barrel when making a stationary one. From everything I have read there is no explanation of why the tip extends out when firing. Probably just cause its cool! haha.

And remember that one pack was shared between Peter and Egon for the Do Ray Egon closeups. And depending on the shot, all three of them wear that same pack.

I usually go with a happy medium of extended and not. Keep in mind that as long as you don’t glue it into place, you can still slide it in and out as much as you want. I usually glue the red tubing into the banjo’s and then you don’t have to worry about the acrylic falling out or anything
