I’ve been trying to figure out how the trap attaches to the belt,
I have my trap built and was thinking about screwing a round hook in the side and just using a “mountain climber” latch.
Any help would be appreciated.. thanks!
There are some pictures here somewhere. It hooks to a similar mount to the pack (like a dixie mount) and has a wide leather holster type thing. Sorry for the lack of details, I will look for a pic for you.

The third picture in this set shows the male end of the hook that holds the trap onto the belt, along with its leather “holster”. Look at the other reference pics of the proton packs and pay attention to the wands. See that triangle-looking thing on the bottom of the wand and on the side of the pack? The trap uses the exact same thing. However, this is a custom-made part and the closest thing you’ll find for cheap are the Dixie cup brackets (or hooks), which can be found in the GBprops Shop.
