There are many 3D models of the Ecto 1 available for download but I’m looking for the most accurate one.
Does anyone know which one comes closest to the original measurements and details?

You’re looking for 1:1 high fidelity 3D model of the Ecto? I’m not even sure such a thing exists. There’s variations people have made for games and stuff, though.
Are you looking for something in CADD or just some rendering program?
I’m not looking for a 1:1 high detail model but something which can be used to print 3D parts.
You guys have probably seen the 1:12 Ecto 1 project on the other GB forum and I was thinking it can be done with less effort using a 3D printing service. So start with the Maisto 1:12 Eldorado Biarritz, cut it in half, print 2 doors and the top part and put it together.
I’m not sure if something like his can be used: click
Hahaha no. Oh god no. That thing looks awful.
The best looking, and only one I can think of is BigMac’s, but:
-I don’t think he ever comes to the site anymore
-It’s not complete

If you’ve ever seen something 3-D printed up close, you’ll know the surface finish isn’t something you’d want to cast right off. With the amount of work you’d put into that, you’re better off sculpting something onto a base model and molding and casting that. It would cost far less in the end, too.
OK thanks for the replies. Guess my best bet is to order a 1:18 Hotwheels when it’s available, take it apart and make 3D scans myself.
This is something that I looked into doing at one point as well. It would take a lot of cleanup, sanding and filling, but I still am willing to bet that it would be easier than working from the ground up. I’d only really do it for the car itself though, it would probably be easier to do the roof items by hand with plasticard.
If this does happen, I’d love to buy a print from you. ![]()
I’m confused, what exactly are you trying to do here? There are already models of the car made so why are you trying to make extra work when you can easily purchae one?
The largest car available is the soon to be released 1:18 model from Hotwheels.
I’d like a 1:12 version. And if it’s possible, why not? ![]()
@SlimeGuy Well, for the car itself the easiest way is to modify the Maisto 1:12 model. The extra doors and top are all you need to make it complete. I know it would still be a lot of work but like you say, it’s probably easier working with 3D prints than building it from the ground up.
I’d be interested in knowing if you are successful. I’ve been interested in doing the same thing as well.
