So, I bought a proton pack off of eBay and it was apparently made by a member on here. It looks good overall, but I’m curious about something. It seems that the 8DD battery packs that are running the electronics were mounted to the OUTSIDE of the mother board and don’t even have covers over the batteries. WTF?
Watch the video at the bottom of the auction page to see what I’m talking about. I’m waiting for the pack to arrive from TX in the next few days.
One of my friends who is also on here mentioned that I might not be able to piost eBay links on here. If that is true, I’m sorry. I wanted to post it so members could see what I bought and give me their solid feelings about it. Plus, it had a video on the bottom of the auction that showed the battery pack section that I’m questioning.
The pack looks quite nice, there is defiantly alot of history there, an older tc thrower and an mark x exoray shell
It wouldn’t take much to get it looking a little nicer in my opinion…
I personally would remove the defuse in the blue powercell, possibly fix the inaccurate upper mounting rivets on the mother board. And swap out your nasty dcells for a internal blue brick rechargeable battery from the gbfans store.
Looks like there is no sound so maybe grab a sound kit from the store as well?
The guy said that it’s got a Hyperdyme light and sound kit but that the sound isn’t hooked up due to a lack of a speaker. I haven’t been involved with Ghostbusters costuming in a little while now so I need to play catch-up and refresh myself a little bit more on what’s accurate and what’s not accurate.
Well there has been alot of discovery in terms of accuracy from when that pack was built, but as it stands your pack is still very nice.
To be honest apart from those small changes I mentioned id probably leave the uber accuracy out of it, otherwise you would need lots of expensive changes to your current pack even on the shell side of things where you could almost say it would be worth starting from scratch one you got started.
I don’t mind filling you in on the accuracy side of things… but It’s a nice pack so id be happy with it!
I had to sell my last pack because I needed money so finally after over a year I sold other props to be able to buy this one. Hopefully I can get the sound system working. I still think the pack looks pretty good so after I adjust a few things I think it’s going to work out just fine. I’m still very confused as to why anyone would put a battery pack on the outside of their motherboard.
Kingpin, i’m going to need some of you guys to walk me through the V hook thing. Lol. I’m not exactly sure what that is or what that entails regarding the inside of the pack. But I’d be happy to sit here and have you guys explain these things to me. I really aoppreciate your feedback.
Uh oh! Does that mean I won’t be able to clip the one to the pack? The pack is supposed to be here any day now and I was going to wear it in the Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
It looks like it works since it is connected in the pictures, but it’s probably a tight squeeze. Adding a mounting block will make it easier to connect the gun as well as being more accurate.
Not to mention protect the shell when the gun is slid onto the hook.
I’m not aware of anyone who sells the block on its own… I had a few spare but have since sold them all. You could try dropping Franchesky a line, see if he’s able to furnish you with one… failing that, you might have to see if you can find aluminium in a close enough size and drill it yourself.
You might wanna try umoribawar on here. his site freekygeeky sells them. it says currently out of stock but he might be able to help point you in the right direction or sort you one out.
Anyone know an eBay seller called order_through_the_phoenix? They are selling the aluminium spacers for fairly cheap $$$. I don’t want to jump the gun, but I’d like to get the item soon.
