BRAZILIAN PROTON PACK PROJECT

Hi there Ghostheads!

After some time, it is my absolute pleasure to show you all some “project updates” from our BRAZILIAN PROTON PACK PROJECT.

We are working in it since 2008. It started with a huge study for a good proton pack plans. So, we found (and followed) some plans avalable at GBFans.com, in each inch. I just don’t remember who’s plans we used (I’ll check with my partner to see if he remembers).

Then, we made the plans in a local plain paper, in 1:1 scale. After that, we made the 1st 3D model, using cardboard. Here is the photo of this step:

The next step was make the base model. This was made in a harder material, to be sculped and get all pack’s details.

And, after that, we made the final base model, that will be used to make the negative silicon model.

Here are some photos from our final base model.

A detail photo from our final bumper:

And here, the silicon modeling:

And we did not forget the gun! Here is the final base model for the gun:

All pieces will be modeled in FYBERGLASS and will receive a black painting layer (to improve pack’s color), after leaving the silicon mold.

We shoul have the 1st pieces made soon. And as soon as we have it, I’ll post photos here.

Now comes some good answers, for everybody’s questions:

- PRICE? We are still calculating it, BUT we are working to offer the complete packs (ready to wear) at US$500.00 + shipping each one (no electronics).

- WILL IT BE AVAILABLE WITH ELECTRONICS? We are chatting with some guys out there in hope to get a partnership. We are trying hard to have this source for the electronics. Let’s see how it runs. Anyway, the 1st pack made (that I may use it for myself) should have R2DVO’s electronics. I sent him a message and now, I’m awaiting his contact by the way.

- CAN I ADD ELECTRONICS (LIGHTS AND SOUND) TO THIS PACK? Answer is YES! The pack and gun will be hollow, so you can add your electronics. The gun will have a door, closed with screws, for easy access.

Well, I’ll try to bring here more progress photos and reports. In the meantime, I would love to hear all your comments.

And please, if you have any hints and/or suggestions, don’t hesitate! Just send me them in PVT at [email protected] OR just leave it here, in this topic.

Thanks and looking forward to read your comments about our project

I love some of the personal design changes you’ve made. This is a great looking project.

I think I had the first pack ever in Brazil… Ahh good times

Good job so far

What you mean?? I was the unique guy with a proton pack replica in Brazil…

Can you explain it? I did not get your point…

Well, it depends, when did you build your first pack?

It was 2005-2006. And I made my 1st appearance in 2006. And you?

By the way, are you Brazilian? Or sent a pack for someone in Brazil? If so, where?

I’m asking because I go to many cosplay events (and have won some prizes - that gave me some visibility in Brazil) and never saw another GB cosplayer.

And what is your real name? I guess I may know who you are (if my intuition is not failing)…

I really like how this looks! If you can really keep a ready-to-wear pack down to around 500$ I think that would be great for people like me who are completely and totally inept when it comes to working with tools!

I built mine in 1984. I was living there from 81 to 84, then 86 to 90

The movie came out in the USA in June, and December in Brasil. By that time, I already had a VHS copy.

I’m only “half” Brazilian, [ I was born in CA ] but most of my family is there, and I was living in Brasilia at the time.

Screwhead,

So, pal, be prepared! Keep it with price up to 500$ + shipping is our objective and accord to the thinks at this moment, I must say we are “on target”!

Keep an eye in this post, pal!!!

Man, I really would love to see your 80’s pack. It should really be a piece! Any photo of it?

I made a pack in these years, too, but it was only the “concept” (not even close of a replica). My 1st movie replica was the one I mentioned before (2005-2006).

And what is your name?

I am! I’ve got the topic set to be followed, so I get an email every time there’s a new post!

Guys,

Just a small comment. My friend remeber who’s plans he is following. It’s Stefan Otto’s Prop Plans, available at GBFans.com (* http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/plans/stefan-otto/ *).

Just to let you all know.

Thanks and keep commenting, please!

Guys,

Just a small update.

I got this from AJ Quick:

GBFans’ rules are: * In order to start a New Topic in the For Sale forum (that is not the topic, by the way) you must meet all three of the following requirements:

-Have a Supporting Membership (I don’t have this)

-Have more than 50 Posts. OK

-Be a member for longer than 90 Days.OK*

That said, I want to clarify some details here: I’m not selling anything here and we are not in “FOR SALE” topic either, but if the topic vanishes, you all know it was not a system error.

Posting it in respect to all of you who are following our project’s updates and it is NO WAY to flame any moderatos/administrators.

Thanks and sorry for this inconvenience.

It’s because you are talking about selling shells and setting prices and such outside of the selling section.

Also, why is this in Fan Props and not Proton Packs?

Hi there ChapterMasterTu’Shan!

I posted this on “FAN PROPS” because the pack has some “differences” from movie’s design. I don’t see them (I must say I’m not an expert, but Dan saw the pack has these “changes”). He said: “I love some of the personal design changes you’ve made…”.

Anyway, if wanted, we can change it to PROTON PACK forums. I see no problems.

And I answered AJ’s PM and said he can edit the main post, if he want, to remove whatever he believes is “sells promotion”. So, it is up to AJ to remove it, if he want.

I’m really sorry for all these. If I’m guilty, I want to say it was not my intention to break any rule. This is why I always “play fair and clear” in all my contacts.

Again, I brough it here to let you all know and it happens clearly.

Thanks and sorry again.

P.S.: I can’t edit the main post anymore (thanks to system’s restictions).

June 18th - TODAY NEWS!

We got the silicon mold OUT of the base mold. Some small pieces did not worked, but it should be easy to make another try. The most important is that we got success in the main shell’s mold and for the gun’s.

Check the photos. And you can see a person in two images, to help you see the scale.

The next steps are:

  • Make the 1st pack’s fyberglass shells

  • Remake the mold for the small pieced that failed

  • Make the smaller pieces.

Please, keep your eye open for the next updates.

And keep commenting

Thanks!

I have a feeling you’re going to tear that mold apart around the booster tube and other deep undercuts.

ChapterMasterTu’Shan,

The good news is the mold is SILICON, so it has some flexibility.

The bad news is that may happen, but it is not our desire.

Keep the fingers crossed, guys!

I’ve a fair amount of experience using silicone…no matter what the tear strength and perceived flexibilty, it wears out fairly fast.

I’d suggest keeping the booster tube separate on the next mold.

Thanks ChapterMasterTu’Shan!

I’ll report that to my partner, who is the prop maker. I’m sure this hint will be important if he get no way to “save” the silicone mold.

Thanks again!
