Hi, I’m new here. I’ve been a Ghosthead since '84, but I haven’t done a lot of related social media… So hello everyone!
I’m gonna ask something that I’m hoping isn’t sacrilege on a site where dedicated builders put in so much work. I just don’t have it in me to build a pack. I’ve done huge amounts of research about how and what kits are out there, and even though I’ve wanted a pack all my life, I just can’t build one. It’d take me years.
So can I ask… does anyone actually sell pre-made packs or take commissions to build them? I even have an Anovos kit that I could send if someone were willing to accept a commission to do the work.
Please don’t judge me, lol. I want to join the ranks, but my life just won’t let me take on the build. Can anybody point me in the right direction, assuming there is one?
There are a few sellers around who do sell fully-assembled Packs, though you can understand that these are scarcer than people who make individual parts for Packs.
In the UK, there’s Ben of Kent. In the US, there’s Search Results Karnivorous Creations. You may have encountered Videobob in some of your searches, although his prices may seem tempting, his products are considerably poor, and some of them are unauthorised copies of other prop builders’ work, so it’s best to avoid him completely.
I couldn’t say if either of them would assemble an Anovos kit, but… If you reach out to prop-building fans who live near you, you might be able to meet up with them and arrange some sort of assembly workshop. That’s kinda what I did when it came to my first Pack.
Always good to take a look at ebay and esty as well. You could always snag a fully assembled pack on either of those places and at decent prices too, depending on what you find.
I would also warn you to be very careful at buying from ebay and etsy. There are a TON of sellers that list stuff as “replicas” and are riddled with incorrect details. If you DO find a pack on ebay or etsy that is tempting you, I would recommend posting some pictures of the pack so people can let you know if it is of good quality of not. I know that I got suckered a few times by unscrupulous/ignorant sellers when I started building my first pack and I didn’t know the ins and out of all the little details.
Hello! Thanks very much! After a few days’ consideration, I’m surprised to say that I’m starting to lean back towards actually making it myself now… Now I have to decide. I would be wanting all the electronics, but I figured I’d just be ordering the kits and having them shipped directly to the builder. Can I ask where you’re located and how much you might charge for the efforts? It occurs to me that shipping is likely to be substantial.
As for pics, sure! After I get it all laid out I’ll take some photos.
