In my experiances, jb weld and bondo have worked well for me, in appropriate situations. The key to any of those products is proper preparation. Surfaces should be clean and free of contaminants, and neither work well on a smooth surface, roughen with a relativley course sand paper where bondo is to be applied, and jbweld i find works well when the surface is rough. I tend to use a drill bit to make little indents on both surfaces to be glued together. My two cents anyways.

I have been using bondo for over 17 years and I learned so long as the surface is rough, treated and is flush to what you are planning to mount it should form proper adhesion with the surface. I just got done using bondo on my spacer which i plan to adhere with wood glue and reinforce with wood screws and it seems to be ok, and the part is over five pounds. Besides, I orriginally mentioned bondo working complimentary to ahesives if you need to add light objects like the small rectangle pieces around the face of the spacer that has been treated with a bondo surface. (Which is what did). All in all, just read the directions on the back of the product to see the weight limit the adhesives you want to use over bondo if you have to.
