Wanted to let people know what I did for my lights. This is a pretty accurate light setup and can be modified easily to how to you see fit. I ordered 3 kits from bakatronics.com.
powercell:
This has a “ghostbusters” chip that you can add for a minimal fee and is well worth it. It has other settings and can be set to a random VU meter which in my opinion looks more like a machine and better than the “screen accurate” light sequence.
This is really where personal design comes into play. I used lights 2, 4, 6, and 8 as my cyclotron lights and the others were used as various flashing lights on the gun. Some of these lights are usually static lights but like I said have fun with this one and get creative. You could use them for extra flashing lights on the pack if you please. This kit has a potentiometer so adjusting the speed is very easily done for those of you that prefer faster lights. I have mine on the lowest setting and it looks great.
Intensify button lights:
This one I used for the “firing” light and i plan on leaching some power from the battery powering it to do my vent light and make may my thrower more “screen accurate” with the static hat-lights. It also has a potentiometer so making it flash with a strobe effect is very easily done. This kit shows only two LEDs but I added one more in series on each side giving me White, Blue, Yellow, and Red. I would get clear high intensity LEDs my white and blue are and they look great. Red and yellow are diffused and came out of a Radio shack colored LED assortment they are overcome by the others. I did find some on LED Lighting for Everything | Super Bright LEDs.
White and Blue I found at a local electronics store but the prices on that website are really good for single LEDs.
On a side note I used one 9 volt to power the first 2 kits and another for the Intensify button. This is an easy solution to having one switch to turn the pack on. I have been looking around http://www.opencircuits.com for a LED bargraph schematic or just a kit that works like the powercell but havent had any luck so my sticker is gonna have to make due untill i can get some cash together. Any ideas/comments are welcome.
$7.99 beats the online kits with shipping and I purchased 2 white LED’s for $2 and change.
It flashes at a fast enough rate when cranked up to simulate the gun firing IMHO, I’m going to subsititute the 2 LED’s I picked up for something even brighter. See how hard I can push the board before something blows
Please note that the video shown above does not accurately represent what is going on, the lights are at least flashing at twice the rate shown but the camera is capturing the video at a lower framerate.
looks very much like the same style of kit. question though why did you put your components so high off the board? Be careful with that man you don’t want to short anything out and cause damage to your pack. Normally you want to push them all the way down and then clip off the legs.
Yup, normally I get them in up close, I plan on tinkering around with this board before I install, so had them “stand off” a bit to make it easier to pull them if need be.
