Dan Shannon's Cheapo Pack Lights

I’ve been getting a good number of comments and PMs about my lights in my Packs. Now, I know these are not perfect but it looks as though there are people that could care less about the lights accuracy.

Mind you, these are not SUPER cheap, but for the price, you’ll get a load of extras. This is a list of websites where I got most of the lights. I will subcategory the light between the main pack and the thrower.

Main Pack:

Cyclotron Lights: http://sciencelabs.com/robot_blinker.asp

What to do: My suggestion is change the leds that come with the set with bright white ones and use wires to extend the lights to they make it to the holes in the cyclotron.

Powercell Lights: http://cgi.ebay.com/BLUE-CAR-ALARM-LED-SCANNER-LIGHTS-5-Pcs-FLASHING_W0QQitemZ290315731919QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item43982a83cf&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

What to do: I only used one of these in my powercell. In hindsight, I should have used 2 seeing how small they are. The fact you’re getting 5 of them, you’ll have spares for such an event. They don’t go full bar then go black like the accurate lights, but you can get creative with it once you find out the sequence.

Thrower:

Any two blinking lights: http://sciencelabs.com/LED_Blinker.asp

What do do: Pick two lights that flash on the gun and go to town, I guess. Again, replace the craptastical lights that come with the kit with something bright and worth it. Radio Shack should help in that regard.

Gun Lightbar: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-5-PACK-OF-FLASHING-RED-LED-SCANNER-CAR-ALARM-LIGHTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem5ad0b2e562QQitemZ390048441698QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

What to do: Basically they’re the same as the blue ones for the powercell, just a different color. You’ll only need one for these for the gun.

All other static lights: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HYPERLED-LIGHT-KIT-SMALL-HYPER-BRIGHT-WHITE-LED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQhashZitem3ef0c62433QQitemZ270327489587QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

What to do: These are just LEDs with inline resisters meant for car interiors. They can take up to 12v DC electric. You can just put these anywhere. The link is for just the white ones, but there are links for other colors on the page. You can hook these directly into the battery without damage.

Battery power: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103206

What to do: The first link is the battery itself. The second link is for a battery repair kit that I used to tie the RC battery into the light systems. Just take the male end and hook it up to all the wiring . The female end you may wanna keep around in case the battery clip breaks.

Aside of making sure you hook all your lights into the proper switches, these are my sources for pack lights. They may not blink and flash in the proper sequence, but it does the job of impressing anyone with a passing knowledge of Ghostbusters.

Have fun wiring!

For our power supply lights, we used the Ge jogging sticks at walmart. They only flash or are steady on, but they are plenty bright enough, and come in blue, red or white.

I’m considering two of them for pke meter wings.. again, inaccurate, but flashy , cheap and look decent.
