Hello all. Fairly new to the forum, and I’m starting to build my first pack. While I would love to have the money to go all out, I don’t. I need some help finding either a cheap kit for cyclotron and power cell lights, or If one of u esteemed prop builders can do a tutorial video on how to get lights hooked up that would be great. I’ve seen the kits online, but I don’t have the moola to purchase one just for Halloween. I am more than willing to do the work myself, but I just need some step by step. What to buy, how to build the circuit and installl in pack. Any help u guys can give would be awesome! Thanks!!
I just bought a great pack-only kit from Hyperdynelabs.com though I’ve seen Exoray on this site has a really nice clean looking board too. And what I mean by pack-only is, you can by all of the lights for the gun too, separately. They have soundboards too! Pricey though, but not their fault.
Buy a proptronix kit! He’s here on the board,it’s very easy to hook up and he will also help you if you need it!
Everything is color coded and it’s just a plug in and play thing,it’s that easy! ![]()
The kit will contain the pack and gun lights!
Proptronix is the way to go,I now have 3 of his kits.
I do too, there are real nice and a hell of a cheap price!
Oh yea,his lightkit is very reasonably priced.
Is there a thread on his stuff? Tried searching his name on thread titles but didn’t get much.
Yep he’s got one in the For Sale section.
Thanks for all the help guys! Will keep u posted with pix when they r available. I’ll definitly check those out. Thanks again guys!
chickflix,if you want to have a look in the Tutorial and Guides section,AJ has the circuit design for the lights posted there.
i was going cheap and quick with my packs last halloween so i went with these.

they blinked in cycles so we were able to arange them under the cyclotron to actually cycle the right way. i also used them for my “chaser” light inside my powercell, cant tell the difference. worked like a charm, easily modified to attach to a circuit too.
edit:
i also recommend going to the dollar store and buying 4 crappy flashlights; take em apart and use the reflective domes underneath your cyclotron lens to spread the light evenly. This is also a good way to stabilize the lights inside your pack.
i also hope that made sense.
Those lights are exactly what I use for my trap. Didn’t even think about trying to use them for the powercell… hmm.
Dax, how fast is the sequencing on those lights? And I noticed that the website says there are two modes (steady on and sequencing)- is this something that is set by a switch, or do you have to set it every time you power the lights on?
if you have any knowledge of electronics, you could look into timing it yourself, but you can kinda do it yourself without splicing wires.
if this makes any sense, the lights are over a foot apart, so you can space the lights in any fashion you want, and from there, you can double them up, space them accordingly, etc, whatever you need to do to get the right timing sequence if the one it comes with doesnt float your boat.
for me? the timing worked perfectly for the cycling and the power cell.
and no, its a 3 way switch, 3 positions.
Wow thanks guys. I appreciate all the input. The dollar store has been heaven for parts! Where’s a good place to find the right bracket to attach the wand to the pack? I can only find the table top Dixie dispenser.
a while back, someone suggested to hit the dollar store, and buy a few tape measures. the belt clip on it is perfect to slide into just about anything, and screws right onto you wand. i gave this a check, and sure as hell, he was right. i re-did both of my packs with it, and it made them both more stable, and appealing.
that’s a good idea! (now why didn’t i think of that?) i’ll definitely have to check that out. thanks!
ya the tape measure belt clips work great. For my kid’s pack, foam board and light since he is 2, I’m thinking about mounting some strong magnets to the inner side of the wand and gun mount so he can easily attach and remove it by himself.
