I’ve been following this on Facebook for a while and I’ve got to say I’m pretty impressed with the lineup they gathered.
Columbia/Sony- why wasn’t THIS on the Blu Ray?!

Because that would’ve required effort.
…that and the Blu-Ray is out already. This isn’t even finished yet.

I think this documentary will be extremely impressive. They definitely spent a LOT of money setting this up.

Can’t express how impressed I am with the quality of everything Anthony and the crew is doing for this. Talk about a labor of love, it’s already showing and all that I’ve seen is this trailer… can’t wait to see more.

That’s usually the answer to any question out in this town.
Unfortunately docs of this size and magnitude are near impossible to produce on the average studio dime and timeframe. A lot of times, us DVD folks only get a window of about three months from proposal to final delivery and shoe-string budgets that only allow sometimes three shoot days max… look at the docket of names in the Ghostbusters franchise, the majority are all extremely busy folks scattered across the globe at any given time. Try getting all of these people scheduled in one of three days at one of three locations… it’s actually why fan projects like this have a greater range of success because they’re not working toward a deadline, can do individual interviews on individual days, and do things more documentary style running and gunning and taking their time (in this case an impressive multi-year production). What’s even more impressive is that Anthony and crew, I believe, are funding this out of their own pocket. While, obviously budget is a concern as it always is, they have the ability to stop down, recoop some monetary backing for another shoot day later down the line and keep going for as long as it takes… again, the advantages to a labor of love.
…which is why seeing this doc close to completion is so damn impressive. It’s difficult to start, stop, start, stop without a project falling by the wayside.
Ready for the good news? Fan docs like this, if they’re careful about legal clearances, in some cases CAN make it onto studio released DVDs… I know Anthony and the crew definitely have been doing their due diligence, that’s for sure. Want to do yours too? In the time it would take for you to write one post to a message board like GBFans, you can write an email to SPHE at [email protected] and tell them you want a super comprehensive Blu-ray/DVD release of both the films with more material than you can fit into a molecular ghost containment system…
If you demand it… they’ll listen. And maybe if they hear the demand from the masses, they’ll take me seriously when I keep trying to pitch the end-all-be-all Alien Anthology of Ghostbusters compendium releases to them… which an incredible film like Cleanin’ Up the Town could easily have a home and be a showcase piece on.
Once again, wow… unbelievably impressed and blown away. Each and every person here should thank these guys for this doc… this was no easy task for them…

My comment was basically begging the question why Sony/Columbia hasn’t produced any real retrospectives. The video game had a better doc than any of the newest DVD/Blu Ray releases.
^ Because you already bought the BlueRay. They wanted to make sure everyone that bought the movie knew about the game too.
Maybe this documentry can be in the GB2 BlueRay… Along with some other ACTUAL bonus features that aren’t just a couple cartoons. At least a commentary and those deleted scenes. I want to see possessed Ray driving around and Luis trying to catch Slimer.
Although it seems like they’re holding on to releasing GB2 on BlueRay until they have something else to announce with it (like GB3).

Fianlly we get our own doc. Ive been waiting for years for this. Ive seen ringers, indyfans hell ive even seen trekkies 1 and 2, its about time we got something.
