There are a lot of episodes that have two dialogue tracks. Some of the earlier episodes had dialogue re-recorded with the newer cast for syndication. Does anyone know if we’ll be getting both tracks, or just one, and if so, which one?
Presumably we’d be getting the original recording, IE, the Lorenzo/Summer versions, which should be the ones that are on the set… I don’t want the redubs.
Well, you know what happens when we assume.
I have to say that it would be awesome if we got both…obviously the originals are the ones that most people want though.
I have to be honest, I really don’t get the mindsets involved with wanting to include Slimer’s spinoff, of the redubs of classic ‘Music/Summer’ episodes with ‘Coulier/Musak’. Those were inferior products under the Ghostbusters banner, not the most inferior, granted, but really… to me, it almost does seem a part of that notion some people have talked about… “buying something just because it has the logo on it”, that it might be Ghostbusters, but it’s not neccesarily a worthwhile thing to have.
Sadly the Slimer spinoff’s being included, but I don’t want the redubbed episodes on there, to me, it’s a bit like claiming that Coulier and Summers’ involvement was no longer important and now that they had these new vocal actors, the contributions of the previous ones were now null and void…
And what would we be getting out of them? Less space on the discs for other content, and simply a different voice delivering the familiar lines from a familiar episode.
Who the fuck cares. I’d rather have it all than nothing.
I couldn’t ask for more since I don’t remember any of what you mentioned Ben. Even if it’s one viewing, I still have the rest of the series to watch over and over again.
Honestly, complaining over too much content? What is this community turning in to? We go from getting shit on for years, to getting honestly what is one of the holy grails for the fandom.. and this is how we react?
I have no problem with people voicing their opinions, but to me it’s nonsense. Just don’t watch it.
Slimer! spin-offs are on their own disks… and I’m glad to have them since so little is known about them.

I actually like the redubs. They are a good example of the later cast actually using their talent, while not hindered by subpar scripts.

When were these redubbed?
I’ve got “Bird of Kildarby”, “Play Them Ragtime Boos”, and “Lost and Foundry” on video, but it sounds to me they’re using the original dubs of Music and Summer.
All the official VHS releases have the original cast. I believe they were redubbed when shown on Saturday morning reruns in the Slimer! hour, so as not to have the cast sound different throughout the hour, but I am not sure.
To be honest, I’m in the middle of a major move, and can’t really get at my VHS tapes to look for dates. I have emailed Time-Life asking about which audio tracks we’ll be getting, but I’m not holding my breath for a response.
Leave that to me.

I just don’t think Slimer should’ve been included, that’s the only issue I have as the other is something we don’t know how it’ll turn out. I still love this set and I’m gonna be buying it.

So not much help there…it may be simply because I was forced to contact Time Life Canada, because I don’t have a U.S. mailing address. I imagine the sets are being produced in the States, and only sold in Canada through their Canadian offices. Anyways AJ, guess it’s back to you.

Will the set be on the regular Time Life page after the pre-ordering? Given that I’ve ordered from them in the past I get frequent discounts/free shipping offers in my e-mails and it’s a better deal than the pre-order price.
