We can voice some of our frustrations if we want. They did have us speculating for months when they could have come out before hand and said this was something DVD related and not theatrical I think. Although the DVDs are awesome.
And I think most of us who were frustrated on the forums are upset at ourselves (and not them) for speculating too much. Me included…
Once you go back and look at all the little bits of info we had, and look at the announcement flyer from WonderCon.. it becomes kind of obvious that it was some type of video release. (note the Columbia logo, and not the Sony one on the flyer.)
Really.. all they did was say.. “Hey we’ve got a big Ghostbusters Announcement at Comic Con!” and then everyone else just really snow balled it with speculation.
you’re right AJ! finally, after all these years i can watch ENTIRELY my favourite cartoon…and now it’s forever! It’s amazing…(i hope that it will be released in italy!).
and then we have a fenomenal videogame…dan was right, it is better tham a third movie: i can watch them and hear their funny lines and interact with them!
I hear you, and I definitely agree. I do have to agree with gbrob, though. There was speculation for months as to what this announcement would be, so how can you not see how it would disappoint some fans when the big announcement ends up being something we already knew?
Even so, I was amongst the people saying I didn’t care. I’m not disappointed. Can’t you imagine, though, how much more awesome the announcement today would have been if we didn’t already know about it? Still… Look at all the new Ghostbusters stuff we have coming at us this year. How could we possibly be disappointed? This is such an exiting time to be a Ghostbusters fan!
I know that I’m incredibly psyched! I’ve been waiting for this release for years. I think it’s great that we can finally get a version of this series that is complete and high quality. I’ve gotten tired of the low quality releases and the crappy TV rips circulating the internet, and I’m glad that I can now purchase the series and OWN it.
The only thing that could have made this better is if they would’ve bundled a soundtrack CD.
I know it said “exclusively” but would something like this box set find it’s way to be sold at Best Buys and Circuit Citys too or is it just from the website?
I’m glad this announcement came when it did. I started going through all of my “unlabeled” RGB dvds, watching the episodes and labeling the dvds accordingly. I was to about 10 of 27. Now I can go back to playing video games.
I know I might be lame, but I’m kind of excited that they are including the cheesy little Slimer and The Real Ghostbuster cartoons. I haven’t seen those since I was a dumb little kid. Now I can watch them as a dumb big adult!
Hmm I tryed preordering this last week using that page you have linked to on the site but it doesn’t seam to properly work. I kept getting “Invalid Card Number” errors, but the bank did notice several temporary $1 transactions from TimeLife from me filling out the form serveral times. TimeLife tho last I knew had no recording of my order, so I guess that order page simply doesn’t work right. So…I tryed the New order page on their home page that requires a timelife.com account. Now that page works But the 10% off code TLGHOST doesn’t seam to function properly, as when I proceed to check out it’ll still have the normal price.
This may be, but they’ll still be encoded for playback on NTSC DVD players so folks in the UK need to make sure they have a player that does NTSC → PAL conversion.
