As I have some extra bodiy parts sitting around, I thought I might as well make a set of Courtroom 'Busters. Here’s what I have to start with…
I have to hunt down one more Peck so I can make a Courtroom Louis figure.
I’m calling this a “Fix Thread” because the existing Matty figures need lots of tweaks and if you want a “complete” set of Courtroom figures well, you will have a lot of customizing to do. I thought it would be good to have a central thread for this.
I know that some of you out there have already done a set, so you are more than welcome to add to this thead with any insights like color choices or figure manipulations that you have done.
Some of you are thinking about doing this and are also welcome to add in your ideas and maybe take away a few that you haven’t thought of.
Great idea to have a central thread for all things Courtroom related! I plan to fill in the holes in the courtroom battle were missing too, so ill definitely keep my eye on this thread!
Count me in as well, once I heard that Ray was going to be the last Ghostbuster action figure from Mattel, I started planing on making a custom version of Courtroom Egon to finish out the set.
So you’re planning to mod Louis’ head to fit the Peck body? I was considering doing that in order to make an accountant Louis, but am hesitant on pulling the trigger as I don’t really want to risk ruining the head. I’m thinking it might be smarter to just sculpt a vest onto one of the bodies his head will fit.
The Alfred from TDKR Mattel line would do a lot better for black jackets and he would be easier to find then Pecks. Pecks jacket is a little blue also.
As far as availability goes, you really can’t beat the Joker’s Thug from TDK line. They’re on eBay loose all the time. They’re dark blue and with the right paint, you never tell it’s a custom. Just my two cents.

I had to modify an unsquished RTBY Ray head to fit on a jumpsuited body; I’m not sure whether the Louis head would be the same fix (ball joint on the suited figures was too tall and slightly narrower), but I used an Exacto knife to carefully deepen the socket and Superglue and sandpaper to enlarge/roughen up the ball on the neck. Somewhere in one of the figure threads I think Capt walked me through the exact technique.
A central thread, almost like “one stop shopping”. You do know that I expect you to do more than just watch, like share some of your ideas as did Ctac and MFOL.
Nice going guys! Good ideas for alternate body and mod parts, feel free to put in more than two cents as all donations will be accepted.
Hey DTB and DS!
This is a big part of what this thread should be ( and I didn’t think to put it in the first post ) questions and answers on how to fix the figures, :nicejobyoudid: BTW, I don’t think it was one of mine that had the Neck Ball fix, then again I’ve written so much I don’t really remember.
Hey Chace!
Knowing that people who don’t do a lot of toy stuff, but are still lookling at threads like these really makes my day, thanks!
Hey Cap, I will happily contribute up to five cents as ideas occur to me. Lol. Seriously though, I have an extra Peck if you want him for Louis though I would still go with just modding a Joker thug of which I also have extra if you need one. Just let me know.

Alfred from the Dark Knight Rises line also uses that suit body, as well as the non TwoFace Harvey Dent from TDK. They’re both bound to be cheaper and easier to come by than Peck.
If this means that you’ll have a bunch of spare Peck heads, would you be willing to let one go?
I reread your post, DT, still going with Peck’s body for Louis because the suit he wears has one, buttons and all are already done. Rather that mod the head, I’m going to mod the neck section of the Peck body. The plan is to cut the neck off at the collar line and dremmel out the remaining collar. After that, it’s gluing in a metal peg with an appropriate sized ball glued to the end. Louis gets to keep his neck.
Hey Servo!
I’ve got at least one and I’m sure we could work something out.
I know Servo wants to mount the Peck head onto a 'Buster body, so the challenge here is building a neck to connect to a neckless body. I did this with the origional Rookie figure. The neck was a Styrene Tube large enough to fit over the Ball of the neck joint. I then used Milliput Putty to fill in the gap between the new neck and the head. To keep the head from falling off the figure, I ran a thin beade of putty around the inside of the new neck. Once dried. I sanded it untill the Ball would pop into the new socket and the head wouldn’t slide off.
originally I intended to buy an extra CR Peter when I bought my 2 CR Ray figures so I could customize him (Peter) into a CR Egon, but I decided against it, cause I didnt want to give Matty that much of my money all at once (even though I bought an extra Rookie and a PKE meter a couple weeks ago) and then I kind of wished I had bought one afterall… but instead of paying $22 + $8 shipping on matty I was gonna try to find a loose one on ebay, no dice… but luckily I just won an auction for a new CR Peter / Nunzio for $12.53 + $8.99 shipping… granted that’s only a savings of 48 cents (if I had bought him with my 2 Ray figures and combined shipping) but since I didnt get it later on Matty, I guess I saved 8 dollars and change… so yeah I guess I’m even steven? I dont know if I’ll use the extra Nunzio for parts (cut Tony’s feet off and replace them with Nunzio’s flying feet) or just sell the loose Nunzio & feet on ebay… am I rambling?
btw Capt really should have a much higher Karma rating, with all his epic posts about custom figures etc - I have 3 more then him for pete’s sake! that aint right, I tell ya what!
I have trouble distinguishing colors (aka color blind), so can someone help me out with what colors Egon, Ray, and Winston’s courtroom attire is? From what I can tell I’d say Egon’s suit is a dark gray, with a lighter gray vest. I have no idea about the tie though. With Ray, what is inaccurate about Matty’s figure? Is just the shirt the wrong color or is the jacket off too? Also his pants don’t look black to me. They certainly don’t look as dark as Venkman’s.
I know we only get a brief look at Winston, but his shirt almost looks like a light blue to me, or am I totally wrong? I’m assuming based on other people’s customs that his suit/tie are black? If so is it me/the picture or is his suit a lighter shade than Venkman’s?
Colors are going to be a best guess no matter what. Unless you have your computer monitor calibrated, you are going to get different colors than the next guy right off the bat.
Now, add onto that any difference in source material and age. VHS vs. DVD vs. BlueRay, maybe toss in Laser disc, too. Age would affect VHS with colors and image degrading, not sure about Disc tech. Anybody else know?
Other than finding all the old wardrobe from the Movie, best course of action would be if someone could get some screen grabs from a BlueRay copy ( as I can’t do this ) and post them up on this thread, larger the better. The shot you have included would be great to have as it shows the patterns on all 3 'Buster’s ties plus the pattern on Ray’s tweed coat. (which is one of the problems with the Ray figure to which I think I have an answer).
Usual business for me would be to run the screen grabs through Paint Shop Pro and get color readings from the various articles to see what existing paint colors they are close to. I won’t be able to do that untill after next week when I get my new computer, so that gives some time for grabs to be gathered.
Real quick, I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all, but Alfred and Harvey Dent use a different style jacket from the Joker’s Thug figures. The Alfred and HD jackets have buttons through button holes on the left side of the jacket, like it should have been glued closed. The JT figure had button holes on the left and buttons on the right. I think the suited TDK Scarecrow figure is the same way. This is why I replaced all my courtroom busters figures jackets with the JT jacket. I hope that helps. =~)

This custom was a while back, but if we’re gathering them all in one place I still believe that the “What should have been” Winston should make an appearance.
Capt I saw your post on the Matty board, and I do think Tony’s plastic might be the same color as Nunzio, or at least close. As stated I’m color blind so I might be wrong, but either way the paint is definitely the main thing that sets them apart. What were you thinking for removing some of the paint?
