No way! The more work you do the more complete all of our collections become!
You and PeteVenkmanJedi have taught us that they are our toys and we should make them how WE want them! Not how some toy company feels they should be! You’ve inspired me and my work! Who knows what else will come out of this community fueled by your obsession… er, um… Hobby.
I borrowed my mothers camera yesterday and took some pics of the Capt’s proton packs, my paint jobs arent anything special (I used paint markers from walmart, since I had them for another project) but I highly recommend these packs!
Ecto-1 rack and packs
I had also bought some of the tan cord RGB style packs but they are being used by my nephew for his RGB figures right now and I havent had the opportunity to paint them.
thanks! he thought they were pretty cool, especially considering the only proton pack he had for his figures was one purple one. can anyone recommend a good brand of paints for use on this material? my paint markers are only good for details, and the paint globs up in the nooks and crannies and details are lost when I try to paint the whole thing white & then blue - I’d also consider giving my Kenner figures a new “brighter” paint job, the original colors were already kind of drab, and aging 20 years doesnt help…
Citadel Paints by GamesWorkshop. Acrylics, covers well, sticks to metal and all sorts of plastics including vinyl, great color assortment and mixes easily, great for dry brushing and cleans up with water.
Did the first cast last night. I had some fast setting resin left over that I used. Only one bubble! The slower setting resin should yeild no bubbles. We’ll see later.
I’m doing up a set for dalbyspook that will serve as a tutorial on what Citadel colors to use and how to apply the UpGrade pieces to make the “Cartoon” Packs even more cartooney.
Inbetween working on joeghostbusters Rookie Figure and the RGB Traps, I managed to build and paint up a set of RGB “Cartoon” Packs with the Upgrade kit installed on them. I took pictures as I went along to make a short tutorial that I will add to the others. You can thank dalbyspook for this as he requested and funded it.
Here is the picture of the completed Packs with the gauge and extra tanks added.. They will get a top coat or two of clear gloss for some added wear protection.
While they look nice all laid out on the cutting mat, they are awsome when the “Guys” strap them on. They look better in real life than in these pictures.
Now that the NJ weather is starting to calm down, I should soon be able to get back on track with mold making and parts casting.
Capt, your awesomeness knows no bounds. I might contract you for an assembled/painted set of these packs like dalbyspook asked for (but probably not until after the Rookie figure is done, I dont want to weigh you down too much :D)
The packs look great, they sit on the figures really nicely. Can’t wait to see them with the trap when it’s done. Capt, do you think (once you’ve completed your many many projects) you might tackle the Mattel RGB packs with the same level of detail?
I’m bringing the Kenner “Hanging Trap” over to this thread as it is more of a 2nd Update to the Packs. For those who haven’t seen this, here are some pics from the other thread:
I took some screen caps from 3 different episides I found on youtube. The color placement is the same but the colors differ a bit (especially the trap lines).
I’m adding this to the UpGrade section. I was going to use them for the goggle base on the Rookie figure, but joeghostbuster wished something more like the goggles that Mereel has made. These are true KennerEcto Goggles, I did not sculpt them, only freed them from a fright feature Ray.
I’m calling these the “JoeGhostbuster Ecto Goggles” and will include 1 pair free ( because I freed them) with every set of 4 “Hanging Traps” when I put up the for sale list.
that’s awesome Capt! sorry to make for work for you (I’ll send you some more dough after I get paid next week if you want) but after seeing Mereel’s goggles… great idea to cast Rays goggles, I will def. buy a handful of those from you as well.
