Hi all
Just wondering if there is anyone who would be good enought to share with me what the best way to customise the mattel 6inch figure packaging is? And also how to open up the packaging properly to put my own custom figure in???

Hey Spirit!
If I were you, I’d send Derrico13 a pm as he does some of the finest Package work that I’ve ever seen. If you ask nicely, I’m sure he’d give you a few pointers. Follow this link to see his latest effort:
For customizing the package, I’d recommend scanning the back into Photoshop then altering to what you need. I may still have the old files from my Citizen Ghost Project here lying around somewhere if you know how to use Photoshop.
As far as opening the matty box, I’ve seen two methods.
1: Remove the entire cardboard backing from the plastic blister. Then, realign it and tape around the edge.
2: Take an exacto-blade to the 3 of the four edges of the bottom of just the blister, so that you have one side still permanently affixed to the blister. Then, you can slide out the figure’s “display tray” , remove it, and replace it with your own. Then just reinsert the tray, tape the opposite corner of the bottom blister edge, and you’re golden! (My preferred method)
Thanks guys for the pointers really appreciate it.
Just thought the 1st egon figure had packaging that could be opened. May go down that route.
As I work with photoshop so all should be rosey lol
What I do now with most packaging is actually carefully tear it open along the seams where the bubble meets the card. I just carefully put my finger between the the plastic and the cardboard and slowly run my finger down, separating the layers. The figures have the little “tab” on the bottom of the blister that you can flip over onto the back when you’re done to keep everything aligned. This avoids the issue of having the sides open via blade, and also give you the option to completely reseal it if you want to.
It is ashame (for customizing purposes anyway) Matty didn’t keep the re-sealable packaging from the SDCC Egon.
Scanning the back of the card and making a blank “office bio file” template is the way to go, as well as scanning the nameplate insert from the packaging interior. I’ve scanned all the figures’ nameplates to make an alphabet database to pull any letters I need from quickly onto a blank nameplate.
