Cyclotron red lenses - what does everyone use?

??? Plastic lenses? Plastic film? The inside of my pack is very rough and bumpy due to the moulding, so mounting any sort of lenses on the inside is gonna be fun :-? :-?

I use tail light repair tape. You can pick up a roll at Auto Zone for like 4 bucks. I cut enough to cover the holes and then cover the tape with the washers. It looks great.

You can use red CD jewel cases as well, little tricky to cut but if you’re careful. I used red reflector lenses, the peel and stick kind, peeled the backing off and glued them in place from the inside.

I went to Staples and grabbed a clear-ish red binder (and a blue one for the power cell lens). They’re cheap and easy to cut with scissors, and look great with lights. Plus, when the lights are shut off, they still look red and blue.

^ I did the same as him for the power cell lense and I also bought clear red acrylic from McMaster Carr.

How about a Replacement Red Lense from a Maglite C/D Cell Flashlight. Look at the link below and tell me how cool this is!

Not bad, are they a good size to fit then? Wonder if I can get any in the UK…

How about what was used on the real packs? Simple lighting gels why complicate it?

They are not that costly for under $10 you should be able to pick up a blue and red sheet locally, they are about $4 a sheet at Guitar Center…

For about $15 delivered, you can get a set of 4 lighting gels on Ebay that includes red and blue sheets… Just search “lighting gel” on Ebay…

does everyone use blue lenses on the power cell, even though the leds/lights are blue also?

I used colored lenses on both, for the aforementioned reason of having it still appear the desired color while the lights are off. Of course, this was also before I got a kit from Exoray (which was worth the price, by the way). I suppose with that, you could even use clear lenses.

Yeah can at £4 each !

I find it’s best to use red acetate from art / stationary shops 75p for A4 size thats what I’ve used on all my packs.

Thats wat i do too…

Well… I did get my last lot from you! Haha

I think I’ll go with the Staples binders  my GB budget is shrinking and I need to get an Exoray pack light kit yet!!

I used this stuff.

Cheap and sturdy. Bought 4 x 97p flash lights from asda and pulled out the mirrors to make the bulbs brighter.

Soo bright

Used the same guy to buy the blue perspex for the power cell.

He also sells the clear tubing for the gun tip.

You got a pic from the inside of the pack so I can see your setup? G’wan…

how does everyone mount the LEDs then?

Alot of times plastic supply stores will have sample squares of different colors. If you know the people, they usually give it free…if not they charge less than a dollar for each square. Look for the red clear square that matches the right tint.

I’ll crack it open and put some pics on monday.

The packs at my house in kent and i’m out of town til then

Check back Monday.

yeah, I have a few questions with things like that, not so much what the part is made from, but how it was attached/mounted. Thanks goose

I use the red lenses from those military angle head flashlights…

As for the blue lens on the power cell, I use blue Rosco lighting gel.
