Dalbyspook's totally inaccurate junk pack build!

Hey guys! Well, here it is. It’s basically a junk pack, with no plans followed or any degree of accuracy attempted! This is the first time I’ve ever made anything, and while it’s not screen accurate, it never tries to be, and I’m really happy with the way it’s turned out.

The components are, more or less:

Pack:

1/2" MDF Motherboard

2 x square tupperware boxes

2 x slim tall tupperware boxes

1 x wooden spoon

1 x cardboard RAM box

2 x soluble vitamin C tubes

1 x dishwasher pipe

1 x plumbing interconnect

1 x empty paint pot

1 x drinks bottle top (the pull cap kind)

2 x milk bottle lids

1 x cordial juice bottle top

1 x toothpaste cap

1 x large pringles can

1 x small pringles can

1 x electrical box

1 x Dixie Hook

1 x Microwave Food Cover

1 x Cake Pan

4 x push under counter lights

1 x umbrella handle knob

1 x generic ribbon cable from eBay

1 x small sandwich box liner

Alice Frame and straps

Various bits of MDF, lots and lots of epoxy resin, No More Nails, cable ties, screws and bolts

Gun:

GBFans Loom

A Partially made gun I bought unpainted from eBay, and pulled apart, adding fifth_beatle’s amazing gun grips, and the rest of the details.

The only thing I don’t really like is the huge bumper, but that’s my ■■■■■■ woodworking skills for you.. Anyway, check out more pictures in the Props section. Cheers for looking and thanks to everyone here for the inspiration!

i really like your weathering on the pack!

Ditto! Great pack!

Another weathering fan. I like everything except maybe the bumper for some reason. Maybe if it was thinner?

Did you just use brownish paint for weathering the brown? I’ve been wanting to add that for a little additional color for some time now.

Paint job totally made this pack great, good work!

Big ditto on this comment!!! Although the bumper is a bit big for my taste, this is one of the best custom packs I’ve ever seen on here.

Also, are you an artist? No ■■■ off the street is going to pull off a faux finish like that. You have to be a painter.

Thanks guys - really appreciate the positive comments. I know there’s alot of people who strive for absolute accuracy, and that’s undoubtedly a great thing - but it was out of my ability and budget range this time round. I was just really happy to go through the process, and look at it hanging on the wall now and know that I made it with my hands!

Also, I’m a graphic designer but I’ve never worked with paint or paintbrushes in my life before, apart from maybe high school art which was about twelve years ago or more! I was really worried about the weathering but it’s actually really easy. I used a stiff-ish brush (actually a school paintbrush that my girfriend ‘borrowed’ when she was at work…) and absolutely minimal paint on it. Just go easy and slowly and it’ll build up nicely.

Garee - I used copper enamel paint. Initially I bought it to paint the Ion rod (wooden spoon) but when I had loads left over I figured a tiny bit of rust-ish weathering would look decent, and it keeps the metallic look too which I like.

I really like how the upper portion of the box came out! the brass/rust and the rounded edges came out looks slightly steampunk inspired, and reminds me of something I’d expect to find in Bioshock!

Yeah, you’re right, I hadn’t thought of it like that. Hope splicers are susceptible to particle streams…!

Sorry, Garree - forgot to say, yeah I really dislike the bumper too but it was a quick job with my nonexistent woodworking skills. I’ve got a really busy week at work this week so I wanted to get the pack finished asap in time for Saturday night. If there’s one thing I change on the pack it’ll be to make a new more accurate bumper - it’s way too big now.

More of the same: I love your pack, even with the big bumper. The paint job is particularly impressive. And if you get a smaller bumper, it’ll pretty much be perfect.

Your “Junk” pack is better than some “Hero” packs Ive seen :D. Great weathering job I think gives in more pop than most random parts packs. Great job.

phenomenal work! its too bad there’s no powercell light, but otherwise pretty damn cool!

Wow!

If you put a smaller bumper on there this will be an amazing alternate design pack! I LOVE it. Especially the paint/weathering!

Very impressive man, very impressive.

Super Cool!!!
