Did Dave re-dub Venkman in seasons 1 and 2?

I remeber reading on a Wiki that Dave re-did Peter’s lines for season 1 and 2. Is this true? If so, where can I find these episodes?

yes he did re-dubbed season 1 but season 2 no however there was an episode that was ment to be a part of season 2 called “slimer is that you” it ended up being part of season 3 instead now this was back when rgb use to be on usa the episodes original voices were re-dubbed in that episode as well i’m not sure if anyone remembers it but i do for some reason.

Yep. And, on the flip side, “Transylvanian Homesick Blues” was produced for ABC Season 2 but was first aired in syndication. Peter and Janine have their later season voices, but Janine has her early season character design.

I remember an old thread on GB.net which talked about the rebubbed eps - one oldtimer claimed that when “Loathe Thy Neighbor” (from ABC S2) was first aired, it had Lorenzo as Peter instead of Dave. I can’t imagine that being the case, though.

Ive always prefered Mr Music’s VO , it just always seemed to suit the character better , to me anyway.

me i’m sticking with coulier cause as much as i like music lets face it while he may have the the comedy thing down he just didn’t nail murray’s voice.

That’s the thing though, Music DIDN’T try and imitate Murray and instead created his own distinctive version of Venkman. That way he was able to be perfectly natural and be funny at the same time. Coulier did an OK job of transferring Murray’s voice/portrayal to the cartoon, but Music is the definitive animated Venkman voice as far as I and most others are concerned. Of course, the fact that Peter was better written as a character in the Music years helped.

the only thing about music is that what made me prefer coulier over him. is the fact that while coulier can make himself sound like different characters, music on the other hand was always doing the same voice over and over again almost as if he couldn’t find a way to make himself sound different,he was stuck in the same loop.

So? There are many VAs who get by using the same voice all the time - people like Tony Jay, Gary Owens, Patrick Warburton, and so on. If it’s a great voice then it’s the only one you need.

true it’s just that no insult whatsoever i’m use to hearing voice actors like charles adler, rob paulsen, frank welker, phil lamarr and other voice actors do different impersonations instead of the same voice.

Lorenzo Music had the great personality and delivery though. He was a great voice ACTOR as opposed to a great VOICE actor. He didn’t sound like Bill Murray, but he captured the Venkman character perfectly. Dave always seemed to deliver lines in a very flat way to me, though I did like his work on EGB in BAck in the Saddle.

as much as i like both music and coulier,as far as i’m concerned both voice actors manage to bring their own uniqueness to bill murray’s character.music with his comedic charm and coulier with his way of voical mimicing. i think that instead of making a competition out of whose better as venkman we should give props to both these guys i know i do.

Over at Spook Central under the RGB episode guide, it has notes as which episodes were later redubbed with Dave Coulier as Peter Venkman. It is very surpriseing. I remember back in the day I taped the episode Troll Bridge off ABC and had incorrectly assumed it was a second season episode because I had taped the redubbed version.

Thanks to Spook Central I later discovered it the fifth episode of the first season.

Anyone have links to these redubbed episodes? I really want to compare them.

So do the dvd’s have the original VA or Dave in the early episodes? It would have been a cool feature to have a second audio track so you could get both.
