RGB Redubbed Episodes

Does anyone remember the “re-dubbed” episodes of RGB, in which six are from the first season and one was from the second ABC season? Those re-dubbed episodes replaced the old voices of Peter and Janine with the new ones (read: Dave Coulier in place of Lorenzo Music; and Kath Soucie in place of Laura Summer).

The list:

  1. Ghosts 'R Us (9/13/1986)

  2. Mrs. Rogers’ Neighborhood (9/27/1986)

  3. Slimer, Come Home (10/4/1986)

  4. Troll Bridge (10/11/1986)

  5. The Boogieman Cometh (10/18/1986)

  6. Mr. Sandman, Dream Me a Dream (10/25/1986)

  7. Slimer, Is That You? (9/26/1987)

The last episode mentioned was intended for the show’s only true syndicated run of 65 episodes, but was switched around with “Transylvanian Homesick Blues” at the request of JMS.

The re-dubbed episodes are not currently available on DVD.

I’d love to hear Dave and Kath’s rendition of these lines:

Peter: “Ah, Janine?”

Janine: “Yeah, Peter?” (blows her bubblegum)

Peter: “Think you could cool the bubbles and slow that filing to 55? My heart can’t take all the excitement.”

Janine: “Yes, it is kind of quiet today.”

Personally, I’m not disappointed the redubs weren’t included with the DVD–I’d probably have never watched those versions anyway; about the only reason to watch the Coulier/Soucie versions of the same exact episodes is how strongly that drives home how much better Music and Summer were as Venkman and Janine.
